    Abstract: A one-way valve includes an upstream portion, a movable element, a downstream portion, a bias and flow paths. The upstream portion includes an inlet and a first engaging portion about the inlet. The movable element includes a second engaging portion (engageable with the first engaging portion to impede reverse flow), openings and first bias-contacting portions. The downstream portion includes an outlet and second bias-contacting portions. The bias acts between the first bias-contacting portions and the second bias-contacting portions to urge the movable element against the valve seat and surrounds an interior open to the outlet. The flow paths are via the openings and from outside of the first engaging portion and to the interior, and passing inboard of an upstream end of the bias.

    Abstract: A beverage syrup pump system is disclosed including a pump housing having an internal pumping chamber, a pump motor, and a pumping mechanism driven by the motor within the pumping chamber. The pumping mechanism receives a syrup fluid at a first pressure and discharges the fluid at a second pressure which is greater than the first pressure. Connected to the pumping chamber is a cylindrical space with a spring and a plunger having a magnet. The plunger is in contact with a quantity of the fluid at a second pressure and moves along the cylindrical space against the biasing force of the spring. Once the second pressure exceeds a predetermined pressure, the corresponding fluid pressure in the cylindrical space exerts enough force on the plunger to move it past a predetermined point within the cylindrical space such that the magnet causes a reed switch in a first position switch to move to a second position and send a signal to a controller. The controller will immediately stop the pump motor if it receives the signal from the reed switch, or if a timer sends a signal indicating the pump has been running for a predetermined maximum run time.

    Abstract: A servicing tool may provide a portable, lightweight solution to adjusting the height of struts of aircraft. The tool may provide hydraulic fluid at high pressure to an already pressurized strut. The hydraulic fluid may be supplied to the strut by the tool at a pressure in excess of a pressured gas in the strut to increase the height of the strut. The tool provides techniques to raise and lower the strut when access to high-pressure gas is unavailable. Further, with the application of high-pressure hydraulic fluid, the tool may be used to increase the strut height while also increasing the stiffness of the strut so as to reduce a risk of dynamic rollover.

    Abstract: An improved high-pressure fuel pump for a gasoline direct injection system is provided. The fuel pump includes a pump body defining a low-pressure side, a high-pressure side, and a pumping chamber therebetween. The pump body also defines a central bore and a drain port extending from the central bore to the low-pressure side. A slip-fit sleeve is clamped within the central bore, the slip-fit sleeve including upper and lower guide ribs. A plunger is moveable within the sleeve for compressing fuel within the pumping chamber. The plunger and the sleeve define a first diametral clearance, and the guide ribs and the central bore define a second diametral clearance. Fuel diverting around the upper guide rib during pumping operations can recirculate through the drain port to the low-pressure side. To accommodate thermal expansion of the sleeve, the second diametral clearance is at least 75% of the first diametral clearance.
