    Abstract: A tire for a two-wheeled vehicle in which cornering controllability (cornering performance) is improved without impairing various performances of the tire such as straight-ahead driving performance, high-speed ability, ride comfort, and uniformity is provided.It is a tire for a two-wheeled vehicle including a tread portion 11, side wall portions 12 disposed radially inside the tire from both edges thereof, bead portions 31 continuing radially inside the tire, a carcass layer 22 for reinforcing these portions between bead cores 21 embedded in the bead portions, and a spiral belt 23 formed outside the carcass layer in the radial direction of the tire by spirally wound so as to extend substantially in parallel to the circumferential direction of the tire. The spiral belt layer 23 is formed of a steel-rubber compound material by embedding one or more spirally shaped steel element wires in rubber without twisting the same with each other, and the element wire diameter of the steel element wire is set in a range from 0.25 mm to 0.60 mm.

    Abstract: A rubber-steel cord composite comprising a steel cord having, in a planar image of the steel cord formed by X-rays passing through the steel cord, a fraction R of the total area occupied by filaments of from 0.45 or more to 0.95 or less in an arbitrarily selected portion of the steel cord having a length of 15 mm in an axial direction of the cord, is provided. The length of 15 mm in an axial direction of the cord means a length of 15 mm in an axial direction of an actual cord and the fraction R of the total area occupied by the filaments is expressed as R=F/A, wherein A represents the total area of the cord and F represents the area of the cord occupied by the filaments. An object of the present invention is to provide a pneumatic tire for passenger cars that shows no separation of the interface of adhesion during use, particularly during use in the run-flat condition, and exhibits excellent durability.

    Abstract: A steel cord is formed by compactly twisting steel filaments together, the steel filaments including a plurality of zigzag filaments and optionally a nonzigzag filament, the zigzag filament being zigzaged two-dimensionally and made up of straight segments each extending between the zigzag peak points, the nonzigzag filament being straight. In case the cord is composed of only the zigzag filaments, the zigzag filaments include at least two kinds of zigzag filaments having different zigzag pitch lengths. In case the cord is composed of both the zigzag filaments and nonzigzag filaments, some of the zigzag and nonzigzag filaments are first loosely twisted together into a bunch, and then a plurality of bunches are twisted together into the cord. In any case, the zigzag pitch length and zigzag wave height of each zigzag filament are substantially constant along the length thereof.     Abstract: A cord comprising at least a first pair and a second pair of wires (2a, 2b) of different diameter randomly disposed in transverse cross section thereof, is obtained by arranging in a nacelle (7) of a double-twisting laying machine, a twister (16) operating upstream of a preformer (15). The twister (16), rotating in a direction opposite to that of the impeller (5) and at a speed which is twice that of the impeller, neutralizes the internal torsional stresses induced in the wires (2a, 2b) by effect of the double twisting carried out upon the action of the impeller itself. Thus, a better control of the preforming operation executed on the wires (2a, 2b) disposed parallel in respectively coplanar axes is enabled. The obtained cord (1), within each laying pitch and only under a traction condition involving a load not exceeding 5 kg, has at least one right cross section in which at least one wire (2a, 2b) is spaced apart from at least one of the adjacent wires so as to facilitate the rubberizing step, by enabling access of the blend to the cross section and penetration thereof along the cord axis. The cord is preferably used as a reinforcing element for the belt structure.
