摘要:
Patient respiration may be characterized using a marked respiration waveform involving a respiration waveform annotated with symbols, markers or other indicators representing one or more respiration characteristics. A respiration waveform may be acquired by sensing a physiological parameter modulated by respiration. A marked respiration waveform may be generated based on the acquired respiration waveform and one or more detected respiration waveform characteristics and/or respiration-related conditions. One or more components used to generate the marked respiratory waveform may be fully or partially implantable.

An approach to providing disordered breathing therapy includes delivering electrical stimulation therapy modifying a patient's baroreflex response. Disordered breathing therapy may be delivered in response to prediction or detection of disordered breathing events. Various conditions affecting the patient may be evaluated and the baroreflex therapy modified. The therapy may be modified to improve therapy efficacy, to reduce an impact to the patient and/or to mitigate therapy interactions.
摘要:
A posture detection system includes an implantable device and a patient-external respiratory therapy device coupled via a communications channel. At least one of the implantable device and the patient-external respiratory therapy devices includes a posture detector. Posture information is transferred between the implantable device and the patient-external respiratory therapy device. The posture information may be used in connection with sleep detection or to modify therapy delivered by the implantable cardiac device and/or the patient-external respiratory therapy device.

According to various method embodiments, a person is indicated for a therapy to treat a cardiovascular disease, and the therapy is delivered to the person to treat the cardiovascular disease. Delivering the therapy includes delivering a vagal stimulation therapy (VST) to a vagus nerve of the person at a therapeutically-effective intensity for the cardiovascular disease that is below an upper boundary at which upper boundary the VST would lower an intrinsic heart rate during the VST.

Methods and systems are directed to evaluating a pathological condition and involve acquiring muscle movement signals, such as electromyogram (EMG) or accelerometer signals, and detecting the presence of the pathological condition. Methods and systems also provide for detecting sleep-related involuntary muscle disorders and non sleep-related involuntary muscle disorders using muscle movement signals. Drug therapy, transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation therapy, or other therapy may be delivered to treat a detected or diagnosed involuntary muscle disorder.
摘要:
An approach to providing disordered breathing therapy involves the use of a plurality of therapy devices to deliver a coordinated disordered breathing therapy regimen to the patient. The plurality of disordered breathing devices includes at least a therapy device that delivers an electrical stimulation therapy modulating a patient's baroreflex response. Other therapy devices may include a cardiac electrical stimulation device, an external respiratory therapy device, and/or other therapy devices used in the treatment of disordered breathing. A therapy controller coordinates the therapies delivered by the plurality of therapy devices.

An approach to collecting and organizing information associated with events affecting sleep is presented. The sleep logbook system may acquire information associated with the sleep during periods of sleep and/or during periods of wakefulness. The information is organized as a sleep logbook entry. The user can access the sleep information by operating a user interface. The information may be presented in textual or graphical form.
摘要:
Disordered breathing events may be classified as central, obstructive or a combination of central an obstructive in origin based on patient motion associated with respiratory effort. Central disordered breathing is associated with disrupted respiration with reduced respiratory effort. Obstructive disordered breathing is associated with disrupted respiration accompanied by respiratory effort. A disordered breathing classification system includes a disordered breathing detector and a respiratory effort motion sensor. Components of the disordered breathing classification system may be fully or partially implantable.

Cardioprotective pre-excitation pacing may be applied to stress or de-stress a particular myocardial region delivering of pacing pulses in a manner that causes a dyssynchronous contraction. Such dyssynchronous contractions are responsible for the desired cardioprotective effects of pre-excitation pacing but may also be hazardous. Described herein is a method and system that uses measures of ventricular dyssynchrony or a patient's physiological response to ventricular dyssynchrony to control the delivery of cardioprotective pre-excitation pacing in closed-loop fashion.

An apparatus comprises a first impedance sensing circuit, a second sensing circuit, and an impedance-based cardiac dyssynchrony detector. The impedance sensing circuit senses an intracardiac local impedance signal that is indicative of a cardiac local wall motion of a first cardiac region from an implantable first bipolar pair of impedance sensing electrodes. The second sensing circuit is configured to produce a second sensor signal indicative of cardiovascular activity. The impedance-based cardiac dyssynchrony detector is configured for detecting cardiac dyssynchrony using a relationship between the first intracardiac local impedance signal and the second sensor signal. Other apparatuses and methods are disclosed.
