摘要： A device for attaching a tissue replacement scaffold to a bone has a platform positionable in substantially parallel relationship to the bone for retaining the tissue scaffold proximate to the bone. A post extends from the platform and is insertable into a hole formed in the bone. One or more ribs extend from a side surface of the post along a portion of its length. The ribs have an increasing cross-sectional area to establish an increasing interference fit relative to the hole in the bone tissue. The ribs have a sharp edge that grips the sides of the hole in the bone such that the ribs restrict rotation or withdrawal of the device.

摘要： This invention describes a rivet applier delivering orthopedic fasteners into a patient. The rivet applier inserts the rivet body then drives a pin into the rivet body to fix the rivet in position. The rivet applier contains a hammer, hammer spring, firing pin and receiver to deploy rivets. The hammer of the rivet applier is attached to loading grips. The loading grips cock the hammer. A rivet is inserted into the receiver. Upon releasing the hammer, the hammer drives the firing pin and the firing pin inserts the rivet pin into the rivet.

摘要： A bone anchoring device for securing suture or cable within a bone hole opening of a bone includes a radially expandable sheath, an expander member for expanding the sheath and a washer. The cable or suture is secured within the bone hole opening such that an end tip thereof is knotted or secured to the washer to prevent separation therefrom. The cable or suture is not affected by the bearing load placed on the expander member during anchor deployment, and the bearing load acting on the cable member is transferred through the washer to the sheath, and not to the expander member.

摘要： An intramedullary nail has a dynamization opening that accommodates and utilizes a dynamization window insert. The dynamization window insert is press-fit into the dynamization opening. The dynamization window insert is oval shaped and includes first and second protrusions that extend from respective surfaces of the dynamization window insert. The dynamization opening is sized to receive the dynamization window insert but compress the protrusions/window insert during insertion. The dynamization opening includes channels or grooves that are sized to accommodate the protrusions and allow the protrusions/window insert to return to an uncompressed state when situated therein. The dynamization opening and window insert cooperate to allow a press fit of the window insert into the dynamization opening with an elastic snap-fit and audible sound.

摘要： An apparatus for compressing a coiled stent having at least one protrusion, such as an enlarged coil disposed at the end of the stent, has a mandrel insertable into a lumen of the stent for holding the stent by friction and a coil compressor coupled to the mandrel. The mandrel is rotatable on an axis relative to the coil compressor and the coil compressor has a tab extending therefrom towards the mandrel. A stent is placed on the mandrel with the enlarged coil extending toward the coil compressor. The tab presses the enlarged coil inwardly toward the lumen of the stent when the mandrel is rotated relative to the coil compressor.

摘要： A bioabsorbable rivet and pin fastening device that may be used for attachment of a fixation plate to bone is described herein. The rivet having a head that is mechanically connected to two or more legs that extend generally distally from the head. The pin being radially compressible and less compliant than the legs of the rivet. The pin when inserted into the rivet will contact the internal surface of said legs to apply force on said legs in a direction perpendicular to the central axis to frictionally engage with the adjacent bone.

摘要： A biocompatible fastener that may be used for attachment of a fixation plate to bone is described herein, where the fastener has features that facilitate its deployment in a surgical environment. The fastener is composed of a screw, having a threaded shaft and slotted head, and a detachable body that is used for deploying the screw and is then broken away and discarded. The slot in the head of the screw has stress concentrating notch features that direct the fracture lines into the screw head upon detachment of the secondary body, thus ensuring that the screw head surface remains smooth after deployment. A suitable driver for applying the fastener is also described.
