In some embodiments, a power terminal is in electrical connection to a power supply terminal, and a printed circuit board is supplied with a board to power contact. Bringing the board to power contact together with the PCB contact causes an electrical connection between the power supply and the PCB. In some embodiments the electrical connection resists disconnection from the PCB contact without requiring an external force on the PCB. In some embodiments the PCB-to-power-contact and the PCB contact are brought together in a direction perpendicular to a plane of the PCB. In some embodiments the PCB-to-power-contact includes fingers with grasp the PCB contact on two sides.

In accordance with some embodiments of the present invention there is provided a method of preparing a compound device for use. The device may include a sealed component and an active outer surface. The outer surface may be protected by a surface cover. Preparing the device may include activating the active outer surface by removing the surface cover and exposing an internal portion of the sealed component to the exterior of the device by unsealing the sealed component and synchronizing the activating and said unsealing using a coupler attached to the surface cover and the sealed component.

Substance-administration apparatus (20) is provided, including a housing (22), and a needle (80), couplable to the housing (22), having a skin-insertion portion 0.3-2.5 mm in length and an outer diameter less than 0.23 mm. A dosage regulator (60) regulates a dosage of substance injected in a single injection through the needle (80). Dosage is selectable by a setting of the dosage regulator (60) as one of a plurality of selectable dosages. At least one dosage is less than or equal to 10 ul. An injection driver (54), activatable by a user, drives the substance through the needle (80). A motor coupled to the injection driver (54) is actuated by the dosage regulator (60) in a pulsatile manner to produce brief periods of high pressure in the apparatus (20) that expel a predetermined volume of the substance through the needle (80) at a controlled rate. A fluid transfer assembly including a vented female vial adapter and male vial adapter for use with a pair of vials including a vial with contents under negative pressure for liquid drug reconstitution and administration purposes. The vented female vial adapter includes a venting arrangement and the male vial adapter includes a sealing arrangement for selectively sealing the venting arrangement. The fluid transfer assembly is designed such that only filtered air is drawn into the vial under negative pressure subsequent to reconstitution of liquid drug contents to ensure sterile conditions.

Automatic liquid drug preparation apparatus for preparing a liquid drug assemblage with a predetermined dosage of liquid drug. The liquid drug assemblage is prepared from a preparatory assemblage including a fluid control device having a body member with a syringe port, a vial adapter, and an administration port, a vial pre-filled with powder or liquid medicament, and a syringe pre-filled with diluent for mixing with the medicament. The automatic liquid drug preparation apparatus includes a housing, a cradle for receiving the preparatory assemblage, and a controller for controlling a motorized syringe drive unit for selectively transferring liquid contents between the syringe and the vial, a motorized cradle drive unit for selectively rotating the cradle relative to the housing, and a motorized vial adapter release unit for selectively detaching the vial adapter with its attached spent vial from the body member to form the liquid drug assemblage.
