    Abstract: A run-flat tire that consists of about eight to twelve free-standing, separate and independent inserts, bonded to the inside of a conventional tubeless tire (30) that is mounted on a conventional one piece drop center wheel (31). The accompanying drawing shows a cross section view of one of these inserts in the tire. Each insert consists of a pair of rigid, load supporting, spread-apart legs (33); a rubber rim pad (34); a pair of rubber foot pads (35) which are bonded to the inside of opposite tire bead flanges.The rubber rim paid is bonded to the top of the leg pair to permit the legs to swing in and out, which is necessary during mounting and demounting the tire from the wheel. The pair of rubber foot pads are made to permit each leg pair to swing back and forth, independently, as needed, under run-flat driving. This tilting of the inserts automatically compensates for the difference between the rolling circumference of the set of inserts and the rolling circumference of the tire. This sequential tilting action of each insert eliminates sliding friction at the point of contact between the rim pad and the inside of the tire tread. Under run-flat driving, the spread apart leg pair push the pair of tire bead flanges outward against the wheel rim flanges to help keep the tire bead flanges on the wheel rim.

    Abstract: A tire-wheel assembly and disassembly method is disclosed wherein relative shifting of a tire and a wheel when braking and/or cornering can be suppressed without negatively affecting tire replacement workability. Specifically, a tire-wheel assembly has a wheel constructed from an electrically conductive material and a tire assembled on an outer peripheral side of the wheel, wherein an electrically conductive layer is formed on at least a part of a wheel contact surface of the tire, and an electrically debonding adhesive comprising an ionic liquid is interposed between the electrically conductive layer of the tire and the wheel. When disassembling this tire-wheel assembly, the tire is removed from the wheel after voltage is applied between the wheel and the electrically conductive layer of the tire and electricity is passed through the electrically debonding adhesive.

    Abstract: A vehicle tire is disclosed herein having a central hub with attachment holes for wheel studs provided therein. The perphery of the hub is provided with an integral flange supporting a plurality of loops and spokes or braces arranged in spatial relationship about the entire circumference of the hub. A rubber or the like tire casing is carried over the plurality of loops or braces and the terminating edges and sides of the tire casing are vulcanized or otherwise bonded to the portion of the loops or braces and to the hub. Air is captured between the hub flange and inside surfaces of the tire casing so as to provide a soft vehicle tire reinforced by the loops and spokes or braces.

    Abstract: A method for making a cordless tire with a hollow tubular hub whose longitudinal axis is aligned with the axis of rotation of the tire. The method comprises steps of forming a pair of outwardly extending annular flanges at the opposite ends of the tubular hub, forming a disk flange at the central portion of the tubular hub at right angles to the axis of rotation of the tire, extending a hollow rubber shell from one of the outwardly extending annular flanges to the opposite annular flange, shaping an expanded ring portion within the shell in the proximity of each of the annular flanges, bonding the rubber shell to the hub while strengthening the bond of the shell to the annular flange by said expanded ring portion so as to form a tire case, molding and vulcanizing the tire case in a two-half mold assembly.
