Abstract: Technology for a user equipment (UE) operable to assist a Next Generation NodeB (gNB) for beamforming is disclosed. The UE can determine a covariance matrix for a channel between the UE and the gNB. The UE can quantize the covariance matrix to obtain a quantized covariance matrix. The quantized covariance matrix can include M best diagonal entries that are selected from the covariance matrix, wherein M is an integer. The UE can encode the quantized covariance matrix as feedback for transmission to the gNB.

Abstract: Systems and technologies described herein provide functionality for a cellular base station to dynamically indicate a reception (Rx) beam to be used by a user equipment (UE). The UE can, for example, use the Rx beam for Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH) reception, Channel State Information Reference Signal (CSI-RS) measurements, and/or Channel State Information (CSI) calculation at the UE. Abstract: An apparatus, computer-readable medium, and method to determine a user equipment (UE) location in a wireless network using signals from a wireless local-area network are disclosed wireless communication network entity may be configured to send WLAN assistance data to a UE. The WLAN assistance data may include a list of one or more WLAN access points (APs). The wireless communication network entity may receive location information from the UE. The location information may be based on measurements of signals from one or more of the WLAN APs. The wireless communication network entity may determine an estimate of the location of the UE based on the location information and stored information at the wireless communication network. The wireless communication network entity may determine the estimate of the location of the UE based on the measurements of the signals of the WLAN APs and a geographic position of the WLAN APs.

Abstract: Communication signals using a first and a second frequency band in a wireless network is described herein. The first frequency band may be associated with a first beamwidth while the second frequency band may be associated with a second beamwidth. An apparatus may include receiver circuitry arranged to receive first signals in a first frequency band associated with a first beamwidth and second signals in a second frequency band associated with a second beamwidth, the first signals comprising a frame synchronization parameter and the second signals comprising frame alignment signals. The apparatus may further include processor circuitry coupled to the receiver circuitry, the processor circuitry arranged to activate or deactivate the receiver circuitry to receive the frame alignment signals based on the frame synchronization parameter. Abstract: Technology for adjusting a receiver timing of a wireless device in a Coordinated MultiPoint (CoMP) system is disclosed. One method can include the wireless device receiving a plurality of node specific reference signals (RSs) from a plurality of cooperating nodes in a coordination set of the CoMP system. The coordination set includes at least two cooperating nodes. The wireless device can estimate a composite received RS timing from a plurality of received RS timings generated from the plurality of node specific RSs. The received RS timings represent timings from the at least two cooperating nodes. The wireless device can adjust the receiver timing based on the composite received RS timing. A node specific RS can include a channel-state information reference signal (CSI-RS).

Abstract: Wireless device, method, and computer readable media are disclosed for determining which channel status information (CSI) report of a user equipment (UE) to drop from a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) packet. The method may include determining that a first CSI report and a second CSI report are to be sent in the PUCCH, where the first CSI report has a first reporting type and a first CSI sub-frame set, and the second CSI report has a second reporting type and a second CSI sub-frame set. The method may include determining to drop the first CSI report if the first CSI sub-frame set has a second lower priority than the second CSI sub-frame set. The determination to drop may be further based on a CSI processor index, serving cell index, and the CSI report priority.
