Abstract: An apparatus and system for power saving in a user equipment (UE) are described. The UE uses signal-to-interference-plus-noise (SINR) of radio link monitoring (REM) signals to determine whether to enter or exit a relaxation state in which the frequency of measurement of the REM signals is reduced, as is feedback to the base station. The REM relaxation state is dependent on the average SINR of the REM signals over a predetermined time window. Alternatively, the REM relaxation state is dependent on SINR thresholds that include an SINR fluctuation range using a SINR threshold for REM in-sync or derived from a Cumulative Distribution Function (CDF) curve of SINR using a predetermined maximum SINR fluctuation.

Abstract: Technology for a user equipment (UE) operable to adjust a receiver timing is disclosed. The UE can decode a plurality of channel-state information reference signals (CSI-RSs) received from a plurality of cooperating nodes, wherein the plurality of cooperating nodes are included in a coordination set of a Coordinated MultiPoint (CoMP) system. The UE can generate a plurality of received RS timings from the plurality of CSI-RSs, wherein the received RS timings represent timings from the plurality of cooperating nodes. The UE can determine a composite received RS timing from the plurality of received RS timings. The UE can adjust the receiver timing based on the composite received RS timing.

Abstract: User Equipment (UE) and base station (eNB) apparatus and methodology for radio resource management reporting. The UE receives reference signals from at least one antenna port of an eNB via a plurality of receive antennas of the UE. The UE performs received signal measurement of at least a portion of the reference signals for a plurality of eNB antenna port and UE receive antenna combinational groupings to produce enhanced received signal quality (eRSQ) measurements that represent spatial characteristics of the reference signaling as received by the UE. The UE may send a report to the eNB based on the eRSQ measurements, with the report being indicative of spatial multiplexing layer availability of the UE to be served by the eNB.

Abstract: Technology for a user equipment (UE) operable to report periodic channel state information (CSI) is disclosed. The UE can determine a reporting period (Npd) of the UE for a serving cell. The UE can identify a Time-Division Duplex (TDD) uplink-downlink (UL-DL) configuration of a primary cell of the UE. The UE can transmit a periodic CSI report for the serving cell to an evolved node B (eNB) using a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) on the primary cell according to the reporting period. The UE can use the reporting period of Npd=1 for the serving cell if the TDD UL-DL configuration of the primary cell is one of 0, 1, 3, 4, or 6 and all UL subframes of the primary cell in a radio frame are used for periodic CSI reporting.

Abstract: Technology for reporting periodic channel state information (CSI) is disclosed. One method can include determining a reporting period (Npd) of a user equipment (UE) for a serving cell. A Time-Division Duplex (TDD) uplink-downlink (UL-DL) configuration of a primary cell of the UE can be identified. A periodic CSI report for the serving cell can be transmitted, from the UE to the eNB, using a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) on the primary cell according to the reporting period. Abstract: Coordinated Multipoint (CoMP) involves multiple transmission points or cells coordinating their individual transmissions so that a target user equipment (UE) experiences enhanced signal reception and/or reduced interference. In order to optimally implement downlink CoMP, a serving cell needs to obtain channel state information (CSI) for the downlink channels from the multiple transmission points to the UE. This disclosure deals with radio resource control (RRC) signaling for configuring the UE to obtain and report CSI for those downlink channels.

Abstract: An apparatus and system of establishing a Transmission Configuration Indication (TCI) state switch delay are described. The TCI state switch delay for a reference signal (RS) on a component carrier (CC) in intra-band carrier aggregation (CA) is dependent on whether a TCI state indicated in the DCI is known based on a type of Quasi Co-Location (QCL) and whether a common TCI state ID is known on the CC. The delay is known for a delay of QCL-typeD RS on the CC or any other QCL-typeD RS in the CC set that contains the CC. The delay may be based on that of a single CC delay, with the slot where the new TCI state applies determined based on a carrier with a smallest subcarrier spacing (SCS) in the CC or the CC set.
