    Abstract: A computing device includes a memory configured to store instructions. The computing device also includes a processor to execute the instructions to perform operations that include providing an alternating electrical signal to a patient through at least a pair of electrodes, and determining transthoracic impedance of the patient from a measurement associated with the applied alternating electrical signal. Operations also include identifying, from the transthoracic impedance, a sequence of resistance values for controlling the discharge of a charge storage device located external to the patient, and controlling the discharge of the charge storage device using the identified sequence of resistance values.

    Abstract: According to at least one aspect, a wearable cardiac device is provided. The wearable cardiac device includes a garment worn about a torso of a patient, at least one sensing electrode to monitor cardiac activity of the patient, and a controller including a plurality of separate and distinct modules distributed about and/or integrated into the garment. The plurality of separate and distinct modules includes, for example, an operations module coupled to the at least one sensing electrode and configured to detect at least one cardiac condition of the patient and/or a communications module coupled to the operations module to communicate with an external device. In some examples, the wearable cardiac device may be configured as a treatment device and include an energy storage module coupled to at least one therapy electrode and configured to store energy for at least one therapeutic shock to be applied to the patient.

    Abstract: An integrated resuscitation system for use by a rescuer to resuscitate a patient is provided, including: a defibrillation and CPR resuscitation assembly including: a first high-voltage defibrillation electrode; a second high-voltage defibrillation electrode; a compression-sensing element mechanically connected with the first and second electrodes, the compression-sensing element comprising an accelerometer and associated circuitry; and a resuscitation control unit including an internal charge storage capacitor, a microprocessor and associated circuitry configured to be electrically connected to the first and second electrodes and the compression-sensing element and configured to analyze signals generated from the compression-sensing element and at least one of the first electrode and the second electrode to provide resuscitation prompts to the rescuer, wherein the prompts are based at least in part on use of the compression-sensing element by the rescuer.
