Abstract:
The present invention relates to compositions and methods for use in delivering nucleic acids and other agents into cells and tissues. In particular, the present invention provides lipid mixtures at the gel-liquid crystalline phase transition providing superior lipofection activity for transferring materials into cells and tissues.
Abstract:
An image display device is provided. The device includes a display screen, a storage unit, and a processing unit. The storage unit stores images and selection interface information. The selection interface information includes a plurality of catalogues each of which collects one or more images. The processing unit includes a selection interface display module, a selection control module, and an image search module. The selection interface display module controls the display screen to display a selection interface that provides the catalogues for selection according to the selection interface information. The selection control module generates a selection signal in response to a selection operation on the selection interface. The selection signal indicates which catalogue on the selection interface is selected. The image search module searches the storage unit for the images according to the selection signal. An image display method is also provided.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a robot apparatus and an output control method adapted for the robot apparatus. The method includes steps of: receiving radio frequency (RF) signals of identification (ID) codes from several wireless communication devices within a predetermined area and time period; sensing people and obtaining the number of people within the predetermined area and time period; comparing current ID codes and the number of people in the predetermined area with what were determined previously, generating an update signal when the comparison is not equal; replacing the previous data with the current data; acquiring output data based on the associated output found in the output table; and performing an output based on the output data.
Abstract:
One embodiment of the present invention provides a semiconductor light-emitting device which includes: (1) a silicon (Si) substrate; (2) a silver (Ag) transition layer which is formed on a surface of the Si substrate, wherein the Ag transition layer covers the Si substrate surface; and (3) an InGaAlN, ZnMgCdO, or ZnBeCdO-based semiconductor light-emitting structure which is fabricated on the Ag-coated Si substrate. Note that the Ag transition layer prevents the Si substrate surface from forming an amorphous overcoat with reactant gases used for growing the semiconductor light-emitting structure.
Abstract:
Increased selectivity of middle distillate and/or increased catalyst activity are obtained in a hydrocracking process by the use of a catalyst containing a beta zeolite and a Y zeolite having a unit cell size of from 24.25 to 24.32 angstrom. The catalyst may also contain an additional Y zeolite having a unit cell size of from 24.33 to 24.38 angstrom.
Abstract:
The cloning of a novel PCVII viral genome is described as is expression of proteins derived from the PCVII genome. These proteins can be used in vaccine compositions for the prevention and treatment of PCVII infections, as well as in diagnostic methods for determining the presence of PCVII infections in a vertebrate subject. Polynucleotides derived from the viral genome can be used as diagnostic primers and probes.
Abstract:
A method, system, apparatus, and computer-readable medium are provided for exposing and utilizing property values maintained at a server computer. A request is received at the server computer for a resource, such as a Web page. In response to receiving the request, a determination is made by the server computer as to whether a property value maintained at the server computer should be returned with the resource. If the property value should be returned with the resource, the current value of the specified property is retrieve and is rendered into the resource as a variable statement specifying the current value of the property. The resource, including the variable statement, is then returned to the requesting application where it may be utilized.
Abstract:
A process for preparing a thermosensitive polymer from a microemulsion is provided. The microemulsion comprises a monomer capable of forming a thermosensitive polymer and a polymerizable surfactant. Additional comonomers may be included in the microemulsion to vary the properties of the polymers produced. The resulting thermosensitive polymers may be nanoporous. The polymers according to the invention are suitable for use in medical applications, including use as a wound dressing and for delivery of cells to a graft site.
Abstract:
Improved designs of optical devices for processing optical signals with own or more specified wavelengths are disclosed. According to embodiment, a filter mirror assembly appears an “L” shape and provides a filtering function as well as a reflecting function. The filter mirror assembly is so mounted that a rotation thereof will not alter the optical path the beam positions of signals resulted from the filter mirror assembly.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for method for discriminating heart rhythms includes computing a first predetermined number of RR intervals from received QRS intervals, and computing a median RR interval corresponding to a predetermined number of the first predetermined number of RR intervals. A predetermined beat-to-beat variation and a corresponding predetermined count are determined based on the computed median RR interval. Beat-to-beat variation differences between the first predetermined number of RR intervals are computed and a determination is made as to whether the computed beat-to-beat variation differences are greater than the predetermined beat-to-beat variation, and as to whether a number of the computed beat-to-beat variation differences that are greater than the predetermined beat-to-beat variation is greater than the predetermined count. The heart rhythm is identified as an irregular rhythm in response to the number being greater than or equal to the predetermined count.
