One exemplary system includes a guide tube having a manipulation section and mated with rails carrying instrument control members. Moving the rails with respect to the guide tube, or another point of reference, can control movement of the manipulation section.

Abstract: A system for treating tissue includes an applicator having a bushing and a control member and a clip assembly having a capsule with a channel extending therethrough. The channel includes proximal and distal portions. The distal portion extends distally from the proximal portion and flaring outward in a single plane to form opposing flared sections. The assembly also includes clip arms include proximal ends slidably received within the channel to move the arms between tissue receiving and tissue clipping configurations. The assembly further includes a yoke including a distal portion connected to the arms and a proximal portion configured to be connected to the member so that longitudinal movement of the member relative to the capsule moves the arms between the tissue receiving and clipping configurations. The yoke is positioned in the capsule so that the yoke is deformable in the plane in which the capsule flares outward.

Abstract: In one aspect of the present disclosure, a tissue retraction system may include a first anchor, a second anchor, and an elongate coupling member extending between the first anchor and the second anchor. The system also may include a holder for receiving the first anchor, the second anchor, and the elongate coupling element. The holder may include a proximal portion and a distal portion. The distal portion may have a smaller width than the proximal portion such that the distal portion exerts a force on a proximal end of the first anchor during deployment of the first anchor from the holder. The force may move the first anchor into an open configuration for receiving tissue.

Abstract: This invention is directed to a medical device having a longitudinal axis, and including a handle and a catheter. The handle can include a body having a proximal end and a distal end, an actuator moveably coupled to the body, and a handle control member coupled to the actuator, wherein the actuator can be configured to move relative to the body to move the handle control member. The catheter can include a shaft having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the proximal end of the shaft and the distal end of the body can be configured for releasable coupling. The catheter can also include a steering section located along the shaft and a catheter control member coupled to the steering section, wherein the catheter control member can be configured to move relative to the shaft to move the steering section relative to the longitudinal axis. The medical device can also include a securing member configured to move relative to at least one of the handle and the catheter to releasably couple the handle control member to the catheter control member.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are various systems and methods for facilitating control of a tool or tools. The systems can allow a user to control multiple degrees of freedom. One such system allows a user to control multiple degrees of freedom of two tools simultaneously. Another such system allows a user to control multiple degrees of freedom with a single hand. Frames and rails for supporting and/or constraining movement of a tool or tools are also described herein.

Abstract: A system for treating tissue includes a first anchoring device including a first anchoring element at a distal end thereof for anchoring the first anchoring device in a first target portion of tissue extending about a periphery of a tissue defect to be treated and a first suture receiving feature at a proximal end thereof. The system also includes a second anchoring device including a second anchoring element at a distal end thereof for anchoring the second anchoring device in a second target portion of tissue about the periphery of the tissue defect and a second suture receiving feature at a proximal end thereof. The instrument may have a rigid guide tube with a pre-formed shape and at least one change in direction between a proximal end and a distal end of the guide tube. The guide tube may include a first channel extending between the proximal end and the distal end and a second channel extending alongside the first channel. The first channel may include a first opening extending along a side of the guide tube so that the first channel is at least partially exposed. The guide tube may further include an optical device integrally formed with the body.
