Abstract: Millimeter wave (mmWave) technology, apparatuses, and methods that relate to transceivers, receivers, and antenna structures for wireless communications are described. The various aspects include co-located millimeter wave (mmWave) and near-field communication (NFC) antennas, scalable phased array radio transceiver architecture (SPARTA), phased array distributed communication system with MIMO support and phase noise synchronization over a single coax cable, communicating RF signals over cable (RFoC) in a distributed phased array communication system, clock noise leakage reduction, IF-to-RF companion chip for backwards and forwards compatibility and modularity, on-package matching networks, 5G scalable receiver (Rx) architecture, among others.

Abstract: Various embodiments may be generally directed to resource allocation techniques for beam forming training. In one embodiment, for example, an apparatus may comprise logic for an access point (AP), at least a portion of the logic implemented in circuitry coupled to the memory, the logic to identify one or more resources available to support beamforming operations in a time interval, enable the AP to use the one or more resources in the time interval to interact with one or more allowed classes of station (STA) to perform one or more beamforming operations, and generate a frame for wireless transmission comprising a set of indicator bits encoded with an indication of the one or more resources. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: In a radio-access network utilizing beam-formed communications, beam direction for uplink or downlink communications is determined based on learned beam directions applicable to a current location of user equipment (UE) in lieu of a sector scan when prior transmission performance measures are available for the current location. A beam-finding map that associates a plurality of locations with corresponding beam directions previously determined to be operative to direct transmission from those locations to a recipient device is used.

Abstract: Sector sweeps are described for establishing two-way data communications with directional antennas. Some examples receive a sequence of base station transmit sector sweep signals from a base station (BS) at the UE, each signal being transmitted to a different transmit sector from a multiple antenna array of the BS, select a best transmitted signal at the UE from among the received signals, send a sequence of UE transmit sector sweep signals to the base station from the UE, each signal being transmitted to a different transmit sector from a multiple antenna array of the UE, send an identification of the selected best base station transmit sector sweep signal to the base station, receive an identification of a selected best UE transmit sector sweep signal from the base station, and send data to the BS using the identified best UE transmit sector.

Abstract: Network devices and systems in 5G advance long term evolution (LTE) and new radio (NR) infrastructures utilize beam management operations to ensure communications for channel state information (CSI) reporting by a user equipment (UE). CSI report configuration reporting settings are processed based on a codebook subset restriction to indicate pre-coding matrix indicators (PMIs) that are restricted and non-restricted for PMI reporting associated with a rank indicator (RI). Based on the codebook subset restriction, an advanced CSI codebook or a new radio (NR) codebook is generated to be transmitted on non-restricted beams of the codebook subset restriction.
