Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus for conducting assays on samples and/or processing of samples. The apparatus comprises a rotatably arranged cylindrical sample holder for holding a sample at a lateral surface of the cylindrical sample holder. The cylindrical sample holder is configured to be at least partly covered by a liquid layer. The apparatus further comprises a liquid dispensing means configured to add liquid to the liquid layer, a reagent dispensing means configured to add a reagent to the liquid layer and a liquid contacting means configured to distribute liquid within said liquid layer. The liquid contacting means comprises a plate-like element flexibly assembled in relation to the cylindrical sample holder. The present invention also relates to a method for conducting assays on samples and/or processing of samples.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for producing a coated analytic substrate using a compact and portable automated instrument located in the laboratory setting at the point of use which can consistently produce one or a plurality of coated analytic substrates “on demand” for using the analytic substrate immediately after coating, preferably without a step of rinsing the coated analytic substrate before use. The apparatus preferably uses applicator cartridges having a reservoir containing the coating compositions used to form the coatings. Preferably the cartridges are removable and interchangeable to facilitate the production of individual analytic substrates having different coatings or different coating patterns. These coated analytic substrates have superior specimen adhesion characteristics due to the improved quality of the coatings applied by the coating apparatus and due to the quickness with which the coated analytic substrates can be used in the lab after production.

Abstract:
A method for depositing thin films using a nominally curved substrate. Drops of a pre-cursor liquid organic material are dispensed at a plurality of locations on a nominally curved substrate by one or more inkjets. A superstrate is brought down on the dispensed drops to close the gap between the superstrate and the substrate thereby allowing the drops to form a contiguous film captured between the substrate and the superstrate. A non-equilibrium transient state of the superstrate, the contiguous film and the substrate is enabled to occur after a duration of time. The contiguous film is then cured to solidify it into a solid. The solid is separated from the superstrate thereby leaving a polymer film on the substrate. In this manner, such a technique for film deposition has the film thickness range, resolution and variation required to be applicable for a broad spectrum of applications.
Abstract:
There is a method for forming a laminated product having a first substrate and a second substrate. The method may comprise applying a liquid adhesive on a surface of the first substrate for bonding the first substrate to the second substrate. The liquid adhesive located on a circumferential periphery of the first substrate for limiting movement of the liquid adhesive within the circumferential adhesive wall structure. Pressure may be applied on a bond area between the first substrate and the second substrate in a vacuum environment to incrementally increase the bond area between the first substrate and the second substrate to incrementally bond the first substrate to the second substrate. The liquid adhesive may be cured to bond the first and second substrates.
Abstract:
A sheet forming apparatus includes a supply port for supplying a slurry, a discharge port for discharging a green sheet, a first slurry spreading chamber, a second slurry spreading chamber, and a third slurry spreading chamber that are disposed between the supply port and the discharge port, and joining holes through which the first, second, and third slurry spreading chambers are joined to each other. At least two of the joining holes are disposed one on each side of the supply port along a transverse direction of the green sheet.
Abstract:
A thickness adjustment device for thin-film coating is revealed. The thickness adjustment device for thin-film coating includes a coating device, a support set, and a thickness adjustment unit. The coating device consists of a work piece conveyor that delivers a work piece, and a material supply unit that carries a coating material onto a surface of the work piece to form a film. The support set is connected to the coating device while the thickness adjustment unit is inserted through and mounted on the support set. The thickness adjustment unit includes a scrape part disposed correspondingly to the work piece and used for applying coating material to form the film. The thickness of the film is adjusted according to a controlling force or torque of the thickness adjustment unit that presses downward. Thus the film is coated on the work piece evenly and the film coating quality is increased.

Abstract:
Provided are a coating device and an inkjet recording device capable of reliably removing liquid attached to a drum. A process liquid is coated by pressing a coating roller against a surface of paper to be transported by a process liquid coating drum. The process liquid attached to an outer peripheral surface of the process liquid coating drum is removed by a blade coming into contact with the outer peripheral surface of the process liquid coating drum. The blade is separated from the process liquid coating drum by an installation portion of a gripper. The process liquid remaining in the process liquid coating drum during separation is removed by air that is ejected from air nozzles.
Abstract:
A film-forming composition for imprinting that enables a structure to be obtained after coating the composition on a substrate and pressing a mold thereto with low compression pressure, a method of manufacturing a structure using the film-forming composition for imprinting, and a structure obtained thereby. The film-forming composition for imprinting according to the present invention contains a resin and an organic solvent, in which the organic solvent includes a particular solvent having a boiling point of 100 to 200° C. at ambient pressure. When the structure is manufactured, the film-forming composition for imprinting according to the present invention is coated on a substrate to form a resin layer, and after a mold is pressed against the resin layer, the mold is released from the resin layer.
