    摘要: Method for manufacturing a electrohydraulic valve, a solenoid operated valve assembly, formed of a ferromagnetic end stop section and body section, an orifice section and a sleeve section of low magnetically permeable material. The sleeve section has an inner chamber with a centrally disposed portion of reduced diameter. Each of the sections is completely finished before assembly so that no further finishing operations are required. Predetermined sections are selected and a valve assembly is assembled by threading one end of the sleeve section to the end stop section and the other end to the body section. The orifice section is threaded to the body section to form a completed valve assembly.

The first tubing section (1) is enlarged in the cold state in the area (2) where it overlaps, and the enlarged area is then placed over the second tubing section (3). Subsequent heating of the enlarged area (2) results in shrinkage of the first tubing section (1) which produces a firm seating of the first tubing section (1), for example a plastic suction tube as an air inlet tube, on the second tubing section (3), for example a flange for attachment to the cylinder head of an internal combustion engine.

    摘要: A process is set forth for making a structure formed of at least two metallic workpiece sections each formed of a reactive metal. A mandrel having a nonreactive surface is sandwiched between the workpiece sections thereby preventing them from being in contact over a first selected area and allowing them to be in facing relation over a second selected area. A reactive metal contact is formed of the workpiece sections over the second selected area. The workpiece sections are maintained under coordinated temperature-pressure-time duration conditions to diffusion bond them at the second selected area. A gas pressure differential is applied between intermediate the workpiece sections and external of the workpiece sections to cause breakthrough at the first selected area and superplastic forming of at least one of the workpiece sections causing it to stretch in excess of its original surface area. The mandrel is removed from between the workpiece sections. The process provides structures such as airfoils having leading edges and trailing edges of controlled weight and internal radii.

    摘要: A bearing assembly for supporting a drive shaft, having a housing with a central bore in which is mounted a shell with a polygonal shaped opening, a plurality of circumferential spaced staves are mounted in the polygonal opening presenting a plurality of flat planar surface that tengentially contact a drive shaft. The staves have a outer layer made of high molecular weight and an inner layer made of an elastomeric material. The staves are retained within the polygonal opening with the retainer rings. A method for manufacturing such a bearing assembly is disclosed, the method comprising placing a plurality of laminated, trapezoidal shaped staves about a polygonal shaped mandrel; wrapping a fiber fabric about the outer periphery and curing a resin coating placed thereon; and securing a pair of annular retainer rings thereabout to secure the staves to the cured shell.
