Abstract: Embodiments of polymer blends may include a first polymer composition and a second polymer composition. The first polymer composition may include a polyolefin having a thermal transition temperature of at least 100° C. and a graftable monomer having at least one acid or anhydride functional group grafted onto the polyolefin. The second polymer composition may include an E/X/Y ethylene interpolymer, wherein E is an ethylene monomer and comprises greater than 50 wt. % of the interpolymer, X is an α,β-unsaturated C3-C8 carboxylic acid and comprises greater than 0 to 25 wt. % of the interpolymer, and Y is an optional comonomer comprising C1-C8 alkyl acrylate.

Abstract: Recyclable, all-polyethylene laminate film structures suitable for use in a flexible packaging are disclosed. The structures comprise a film layer consisting essentially of an ethylene-based polymer and a barrier adhesive layer disposed on a surface of the film layer, wherein the structure has an oxygen transmission rate not greater than 100 O2/m2/day, measured according to ASTM Method D3985. Recyclable, all-polyethylene laminate film structures suitable for use in a flexible packaging are disclosed comprising (A) a sealant film layer consisting essentially of an ethylene-based polymer, (B) an intermediate film layer consisting essentially of an ethylene-based polymer, (C) a structural film layer consisting essentially of an ethylene-based polymer, and (D) a barrier adhesive layer, wherein the recyclable, all-polyethylene laminate film structure has an oxygen transmission rate not greater than 100 O2/m2/day, measured according to ASTM Method D3985. Articles comprising the disclosed laminate film structures, such as flexible packaging and stand-up pouches, are also disclosed.

Abstract: Articles made from a moisture-crosslinkable, polymeric composition comprising in weight percent based on the weight of the composition: (A) 10 to 99.99 wt % of a nonpolar ethylenic polymer grafted with silane functionality (Si-g-npPE), the npPE having the following properties before grafting: (1) a vinyl content of 0.2 to 0.7 per 1,000 carbon atoms, (2) a melt index of 1.5 to 7.0 dg/min, (3) a density of 0.913 to 0.965 g/cc, and (4) a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of equal to or less than 8; (B) 0.01 to 20 wt % of a silanol condensation catalyst; and (C) 0 to 70 wt % of a flame retardant additive; exhibit one or more of desirable (a) silane grafting efficiency; (b) hot creep performance as a cable jacket/insulation after moisture crosslinking; (c) retained dielectric strength after glancing impact as a moisture crosslinked cable construction; and (d) crush resistance as a moisture crosslinked cable construction.

Abstract: A two-component solventless adhesive composition is disclosed, the adhesive composition comprising an isocyanate component comprising at least one isocyanate, and a polyol component comprising at least one amine-initiated polyol having a functionality of from 3 to 8 and a hydroxyl number of from 20 to 1,000, wherein the first and second components are formulated to be applied to separate substrates before being brought together. Further, a method for forming a laminate is disclosed, the method comprising uniformly applying the isocyanate component to a first substrate, uniformly applying the polyol component to a second substrate, bringing the first and second substrates together, thereby mixing and reacting the isocyanate component and the polyol component to form an adhesive between the first and second substrates, and curing the adhesive to bond the first and second substrates. Still further, a laminate formed by the method is disclosed.

Abstract: Articles made from a moisture-curable, polymeric composition comprising in weight percent based on the weight of the composition: (A) 2 to less than 80 weight percent (wt %) of an ethylenic polymer with (1) a crystallinity at room temperature of 34% to 55%, or 65% to 80%, and (2) a melt index (I2) of 0.1 to 50 decigrams per minute (dg/min); (B) 3 to 30 wt % of a halogenated flame retardant; (C) 3 to 30 wt % an inorganic antimony flame retardant; and (D) 0 to 10 wt % of at least one of an inorganic flame retardant other than the inorganic antimony flame retardant, e.g., zinc oxide exhibit enhanced ACBD properties in comparison to articles alike in all respects except made from a composition comprising an ethylenic polymer without the requisite crystallinity at room temperature.

Abstract: Laminate film structures including an adhesive layer having gas and moisture barrier properties are disclosed. The disclosed laminate film structures comprise films bonded together with an adhesive composition, the adhesive composition having barrier properties, e.g., controlling oxygen and/or water vapor transmission rates. The disclosed laminate film structures comprise films made from polymers and/or metallized polymers whereby the weight, thickness, and/or number of film layers has been reduced by using a barrier adhesive in place of a standard adhesive while still achieving similar barrier properties. Methods for forming laminate structures having a desired barrier performance are also disclosed, the methods comprising determining the desired barrier performance of the laminate structure, selecting a barrier adhesive, selecting two or more film layers, including at least a first film layer and a second film layer, applying the barrier adhesive on a surface of the first film layer, and bringing a surface of the second film layer into contact with the barrier adhesive applied on the surface of the first film layer, thereby forming the laminate structure having a desired barrier performance.
