Abstract:
A method of forming an electrically-conductive pattern includes selectively electroplating the top portions of a substrate that corresponds to the pattern, and separating the conductive pattern from the substrate. The electroplating may also include electrically connecting the conductive pattern to an electrical component. Conductive ink, such as ink including carbon particles, may be selectively placed on the conductive substrate to facilitate plating of the desired pattern and/or to facilitate separation of the pattern from the substrate. An example of a conductive pattern is an antenna for a radio-frequency identification (RFID) device such as a label or a tag. One example of an electrical component that may be electrically connected to the antenna, is an RFID strap or chip.
Abstract:
The use of compounds of the formula and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, alone or in combination for the treatment of transplant rejection, wherein the substituents are further defined in the application.
Abstract:
Methods for treating an individual having cancer are provided. The method may include administering a cell migration inhibitor and a chemotherapeutic agent to the individual to inhibit migration of cancer cell. Inhibiting cell migration may increase cell division. In this manner, the cell migration inhibitor and the chemotherapeutic agent in combination may have increased efficacy compared to the chemotherapeutic agent alone due to the increased cell division. The cell migration inhibitor may include any of the inhibitors described herein. For example, the cell migration inhibitor may be an organic molecule having a molecular weight of less than about 700, a monoclonal antibody, or a natural product.
Abstract:
A retention system for a vehicular spare tire includes a chamber having a bottom portion. A tray is configured for movement in a first direction relative to the bottom portion between an extended position and a stored position. At least one removable interconnecting member is configured to selectively interface with both the tray and the chamber for substantially preventing movement of the tray relative in the first direction. At least one guide member is configured to selectively interface with a back portion of the tray for substantially preventing movement of the back portion of the tray in a second direction relative to the bottom portion while the tray is in the stored position. The second direction is generally perpendicular to the first direction.
Abstract:
A method of thermocompressive bonding of one or more electrical devices using individual heating elements and a resilient member to force the individual heating elements into compressive engagement with the electrical devices is provided. The individual heating elements may be Curie-point heating elements or conventional resistive heating elements. A method of thermocompressive bonding of one or more electrical devices using a transparent flexible platen and thermal radiation is also provided. In one embodiment, the thermal radiation is near infra-red thermal radiation and the transparent flexible platen is composed of silicone rubber. The bonding material may be an adhesive or a thermoplastic bonding material. A method of capacitively coupling a semiconductor chip to an electrical component with a pressure sensitive adhesive is also provided. The method includes compressing the chip by forcing a flexible platen of a bonding device into compressive engagement with the semiconductor chip.
Abstract:
A process for cutting or perforating a water-soluble or water-dispersible film or stack of films in the form of a web comprising a plurality of compartments by which each compartment is cut or perforated by applying a laser beam to the film or stack of films. The process for producing a water-soluble or water-dispersible container containing a composition comprises: a producing a base web water-soluble or water-dispersible film containing a plurality of pockets; b. filling each pocket with a composition; c. sealing the pockets with a top web water-soluble or water-dispersible film to produce closed containers; and d. separating at least one container from the plurality of containers by cutting or perforating the combined web with a laser beam.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a support structure for a spare tire on a vehicle. A shell is attached to the vehicle and includes first and second end portions and a bottom portion extending at least partially between the first and second end portions. The shell at least partially defines a spare tire storage chamber and includes an opening providing access to the storage chamber, wherein the opening is adjacent to the first end portion. A support member is adapted to support a spare tire. The support member is slidably positioned above the bottom portion and is movable back and forth along a movement path from a first position in which the support member is substantially disposed within the shell and a second position in which the support member is at least partially disposed outside the shell. The support member includes a lower interface surface for directly contacting an upper interface surface of the bottom portion of the shell in sliding engagement as the support member is moved along the movement path. In certain embodiments, a retention member can be fixedly attached to the shell. In further embodiments, the support member and the shell have a cooperative locking configuration. A support structure adapted to support a spare tire for a vehicle is also disclosed.
Abstract:
Inhalation device and associated method for facilitating inhalation by a patient of powder medicaments contained in a receptacle. The inhalation device has a chamber for receiving the receptacle. A ring is circumferentially coupled to an inner surface of the chamber to achieve a higher reproducible emitted dose of medicament from the receptacle. The inhalation device also includes an improved implement for puncturing the receptacle, requiring less force and experiencing fewer failures.
Abstract:
Compositions of the current invention are directed toward inhibiting the growth of microorganisms, particularly fungi. The compositions consist of chemically-synthesized antibiotics comprising certain amino acids. Methods of identifying particular antibiotic compositions from libraries of such compositions are disclosed. In addition, methods for preventing microbial growth in plants and animals are disclosed.
