    摘要: A filter block may comprise activated carbon filter particles without metallic biocides. The activated carbon filter particles may have a median particle size of less than or equal to about 90 microns and having a particle span of less than or equal to about 1.7. The filter block may have a permeability of greater than about 3.0×10−9 cm2 and a Filter Viruses Log Removal of greater than about 2 logs. A portion of the activated carbon filter particles may be coated with a cationic polymer. Another filter block may comprise mesoporous activated carbon filter particles without metallic biocides, wherein the mesoporous activated carbon filter particles may have a median particle size of less than or equal to about 104 μm and a particle span of less than or equal to about 2.05, and wherein at least a portion of the filter particles may be coated with a cationic polymer. The filter block may have a permeability of greater than about 2.0×10−9 cm2 and a Filter Viruses Log Removal of greater than about 2 logs.

The filter comprises a housing having an inlet and an outlet and a filter material disposed within the housing, the filter material formed at least in part from a plurality of filter particles consisting of mesoporous activated carbon. A sum of mesopore and macropore volumes of the filter particles may be between about 0.2 mL/g and about 2 mL/g, wherein mesopore means an intra-particle pore having a diameter between 2 nm and 50 nm, and macropore means an intra-particle pore having a diameter greater than 50 nm, a total pore volume of the filter particles is greater than about 0.4 mL/g and less than about 3 mL/g, and a ratio of the sum of the mesopore and macropore volumes to the total pore volume of the filter particles is greater than about 0.3. The filter removes bacteria and viruses from the water at a level of Filter Bacteria Log Removal of greater than about 2 logs and a Filter Viruses Log Removal of greater than about 1 log.

    摘要: A powder dispenser includes a resilient container for storing a powder and a volume of air therein. The powder has properties which enable a portion of the volume of air to fluidize a portion of the powder when the resilient container is sufficiently deformed. The dispenser has a substantially rigid conduit connected to its discharge end. The conduit provides the only fluid communication between the inside of the container and an ambient outside environment. The dispenser also has a resilient flat member connected to the outer end of the conduit. The flat member has a slit that is normally closed such that the container is substantially sealed in a fluid-tight manner until the container is sufficiently deformed to generate a pressure in the volume of air. When a pressure differential exists that is greater than a threshold value, the pressure differential causes the slit to open to discharge a portion of the powder mixed with a portion of the volume of air. The dispenser may also have an apertured member in the conduit that has at least one aperture therethrough having a total cross-sectional area smaller than a cross-sectional area of the conduit. The at least one aperture provides increased air velocity and turbulence to improve mixing of powder and air.

    摘要: Disclosed herein is a method that includes contacting (a) a gaseous mixture that includes (i) an inert gas and (ii) a vaporized liquid feed containing methyl-2-acetoxy propionate (MAPA) and an excipient, with (b) a material having a surface acidity of about 5 micromoles per gram (μmol/g) or less and a surface basicity of about 15 μmol/g or less, under conditions sufficient to produce a conversion product that includes methyl acrylate in a molar yield of at least about 85% from MAPA. The excipient is selected from the group consisting of acetic acid, formic acid, methyl acetate, lactic acid, carbon dioxide, and mixtures thereof. This method now makes possible the ability to further process the manufactured methyl acrylate into acrylic acid by either of two general routes that ultimately produce acrylic acid in a molar yield of at least about 80% from methyl acrylate and, preferably, substantially free of propanoic acid.
