The present invention is directed to a multiple component coating composition comprising (a) a film forming binder component having isocyanate reactive groups; (b) a stable polyisocyanate solution comprising organic liquid and up to 30% by weight, based on the weight of the polyisocyanate solution, of a polyisocyanate having reactive isocyanate groups selected from an aromatic polyisocyanate having tertiary isocyanate groups or a (meth)acrylic polymer containing reactive isocyanate groups; and (c) optionally, a tinting composition comprising pigment, a dispersing agent and an organic liquid carrier; whereby components (a), (b) and (c) are blended together before application to a substrate and after application to a substrate the composition is cured to form a finish. The present invention is also directed to a method of producing a finish on a substrate and to the resulting coated substrate.

When a coating mixture comprising the catalyst is sprayed and/or applied to a substrate as a thin film in air, the catalyst is activated. For solvent-based refinish systems comprising hydroxyl and isocyanate species at high solids levels, the catalyst system therefore provides extended viscosity stability, i.e., pot life.

The rheology control agent includes a compound having the Formula (I) including isomers or mixtures of isomers thereof: wherein p is 0, 1, 2, or 3; and R2, R3, R4, X and Y groups are described in the specification. The solvent-borne coating compositions containing the rheology control agent have improved rheology control on application and are useful for OEM, refinishing or repainting the exterior of automobile and truck bodies and parts thereof.

This invention relates to rapid curing coating compositions that are particularly useful for automotive OEM and refinish applications. The coating composition includes a crosslinkable component that contains a novel highly branched acrylic polymer, and a crosslinking component that contains conventional crosslinking agents, such as polyisocyanate and melamine. This invention is also directed to a process for producing coatings from the rapid curing coating compositions. These compositions are especially useful in providing hard highly crosslinked coatings.

The present invention relates generally to sizing compositions for fibers used in composite materials. More specifically, this invention relates to siloxane fiber sizing solutions comprising rubbery-polymers and their use in preparing composite materials. Using the sizings of the present invention not only improves the energy absorption of the composite materials made thereof, but also maintains the interfacial strength of composite materials. Particularly, the rubbery-polymers of the present invention are functionalized with chemical groups that react to the fiber surface and/or to the polymeric resin. In addition, because the rubbery-polymer is incorporated as one block of a block copolymer, it advantageously improves both, the interfacial strength and energy absorption.
