Abstract: A multi-layer or single layer antifouling coating system. A multi-layer coating system comprises (a) a base coating for coating a substrate, and (b) an antifouling coating composition adapted to be disposed over the base coating, the antifouling coating composition comprising a hydroxyl terminated polydimethylsiloxane, a curable polyether-containing silane of the Formula (1): (R1O)a(R1)(3-a)Si—R2—(Si(R1)2O)p—Si(R1)2—R2—O—(CH2—CHR1—O)q—R1 (1) where a is 1-3; R1 is H or alkyl radical from C1-C10; R2 is alkylene from C2-C10; p is 1-100; and q is 1-50. The base coating composition can comprise an epoxy modified adhesion promoter. A single layer coating composition comprises a compound of Formula (4): (R1O)a(R1)3-a—Si-M-(Si(R1)2O)r—(Si(R1)(O1/2)(O))t—(Si(X)(O1/2)(O))v—Si(R1)2-M-Si(OR1)a(R1)3-a (4) where R1 is H or an alkyl radical M is R2 or oxygen; r is 0-1000; t is 1 to 20; v is 0 to 20; X is —R2—(N(R1)1-b(Y)b—R2)c—N(R1)2-b(Y)b; b is 0-2; c is 0-5; Y is R1 or an organic radical with an epoxide at one terminal; and R2 is an alkylene from C2-C10, with the proviso that at least one Y is an organic radical with an epoxide at one terminal. The respective compositions are such that the antifouling coating composition sufficiently adheres to the base coating composition without the need for a tie coat layer.

Abstract: There is described a polysiloxane having the structure: wherein R1, R2, and R3 are independently a hydrocarbon radical, an unsaturated radical, an alkoxy radical, an aryl radical or an alkenyloxy radical, R4 is independently a direct bond or hydrocarbon radical optionally substituted with oxygen and nitrogen, R5 is independently a hydrogen, a halogen, an aliphatic group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, an aromatic group having 6 to 8 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or an aryloxy group, R6 is independently a hydroxyl group, an amine group, an acid chloride group, or a sulfonyl halide group, x is from 1 to 300; y is from 0 to 50; and z is from 0 to 50. The polysiloxane is used to make various copolymers and polymer blends. A variety of articles can be made using the polysiloxane described as a polymer blend or copolymer.

Abstract: A process for producing a silane-crosslinked polyolefin which comprises exposing a polyolefin containing at least one [1,3,2]-dioxasilinane ring structure to moisture in the presence of an organic carboxylic acid, which is used as a hydrolysis and condensation catalyst and does not contain tin, thereby producing the silane-crosslinked polyolefin, wherein the polyolefin containing at least one [1,3,2]-dioxasilinane ring structure is made by the process of grafting an olefinically unsaturated [1,3,2]-dioxasilinane to a polyolefin in the presence of a free radical initiator. There is also provided the resulting silane-crosslinked polyolefin and the graftable silane composition used in the process.

Abstract: There is described a release composition including a polyorganosiloxane polymer and a release modifier. The release modifier includes comprising an alkenyl silsesquioxane an organo functional siloxane of the formula MDxM, wherein M represents R3SiO1/2, D represents R2SiO2/2, wherein R is alkyl or alkenyl of 1 to 40 carbon atoms, or hydrogen wherein the organo functional siloxane has a viscosity of from about 5 centipoises to about 80 centipoises and x is from about 5 to about 80, and an optionally a reactive diluent. The release composition includes at least one siloxane cross-linking agent, an inhibitor; and a hydrosilation catalyst.

Abstract: The present invention provides curable compositions that are substantially free of metal catalysts including both tin and non-tin metal catalysts. The curable compositions employ a catalyst system comprising the combination of a carboxylic acid, an amino-containing adhesion promoter or a mixture of amine-containing adhesion promoters and an amino-containing siloxane. The combination of these materials accelerates the condensation curing of moisture curable silicones/non-silicones even in the absence of a metal-based catalyst.
