摘要: A method for manufacturing a retardation film having a suitable retardation using a film casting method but without requiring any special heat-treating process. The post-drying process in the film casting method is divided into three or more chambers, and the tension applied to the film is controlled under the condition that the tension does not exceed a yield value determined based on the amount of solvent content and the temperature of the film in each of the chambers, so that stretch of the film is carried out under the above condition and, if necessary, under the condition that the solvent content is not more than 10%.

摘要: A process for solvent casting acrylic films having superior properties by casting a solution comprising an organic solvent and a polymer system of one or more acrylic polymers onto a carrier, removing the solvent thereby forming the film on the carrier, and stripping the film from the carrier, is disclosed. The polymer system comprises at least one polymer having the following properties: Total Elongation (%) of about 120-250; Tear Resistance of about 4.5-12.5 g/mil (which is about 177-492 mg/micron); Tensile Strength of about 4500-5000 lbs/in.sup.2 (about 317-387 kg/cm.sup.2); Molecular Weight (amu) of about 250,000-500,000; Acid Content (%) of about 0.05-5.0; and Tucon hardness (Knoop No.) of about 6-12.The acrylic film has Total Elongation, Tensile Strength, Tear Resistance, Acid Content and Tucon hardness in the aforesaid ranges, and is substantially free of reactive groups, such as hydroxy groups. The residual solvent in the film is (weight %) about 0-3. The film has dimensional stability (% shrinkage at about 130.degree. C. for films of 0.5-5.0 mils, which is about 13-127 microns) of about 0.3. The thickness of the films is generally about 0.5-5.0 mils (which is about 13-127 microns). The films have excellent flexibility and extensibility, are completely free of pinholes, gels and imperfections, and have excellent weatherability.

摘要: This invention relates to a process and a device for production of plastic sheets of high optical quality, used particularly in laminated glasses.According to the invention, a liquid mass is applied to a plane mobile support consisting of a horizontally taut flexible strip, this flexible strip passing over two horizontal and longitudinal rectilinear supports, contact of each with the flexible strip being limited approximately to a generatrix, these two supports extending over the entire length useful for production and being placed along the side edges of the strip, this latter being stretched crosswise on these two rectilinear supports like a drumhead.

摘要: An improved apparatus for forming an elongated synthetic resin plate or sheet, is provided. The lower steel belt of the apparatus is placed on a lower board and is intermittently fed by a predetermined distance. Side frames are installed on the lower steel belt, the side frames stretching on both the right and left edges of the lower steel belt in the lengthwise direction thereof. The upper steel belt is disposed between the two side frames, and an upper board is installed on the upper steel belt. Either one of the upper board or the lower board is so constructed as to be movable up and down. The resinous starting material is pressed by the pressing operation of the board which moves up and down via the upper and lower steel belts. The upper and lower boards are divided into a plurality of blocks so as to correspond to the opposing ones, thereby to constitute heating zones having heating means and cooling zones having cooling means.

摘要: Multiple plastisol compositions having differing decorative characteristics are simultaneously individually fed to a receptacle to form a heterogeneous mixture thereof. An applicator ball is positioned in an opening in the receptacle''s bottom. Rotation of the ball during an oscillating movement of the receptacle, with the ball in contact with a moving substrate, produces a marbleizing effect in the coating applied thereby. Heat is used to gel the marbleized coating. A clear, unfilled plastisol coating is applied over the marbleized coating and the coatings are then heat fused.
