摘要: An electrochemical storage device is provided including an anode chamber filled with anode material, and a cathode chamber filled with cathode material. The anode chamber is separated from the cathode chamber by ion-conducting solid body electrolyte, and is limited on one side at least partially by the solid body electrolyte, and to the other side at least partially by a wall surrounding at least partially the solid body electrolytes. The electrochemical storage device has a head part where electric energy is guided to and/or taken away from, a base part arranged opposite the head part, and at least one lateral part including at least one wall arranged between the head and base part. At least one first area and second area are formed between the wall and the solid body electrolyte, both areas being different with respect to the respective distance between the wall and solid body electrolyte.

摘要: The present invention provides a molten sodium secondary cell. In some cases, the secondary cell includes a sodium metal negative electrode, a positive electrode compartment that includes a positive electrode disposed in a molten positive electrolyte comprising Na—FSA (sodium-bis(fluorosulonyl)amide), and a sodium ion conductive electrolyte membrane that separates the negative electrode from the positive electrolyte. One disclosed example of electrolyte membrane material includes, without limitation, a NaSICON-type membrane. The positive electrode includes a sodium intercalation electrode. Non-limiting examples of the sodium intercalation electrode include NaxMnO2, NaxCrO2, NaxNiO, and NaxFey(PO4)z. The cell is functional at an operating temperature between about 100° C. and about 150° C., and preferably between about 110° C. and about 130° C.

摘要: An electrochemical storage device has an anode chamber filled with anode material during operation, and a cathode chamber filled with cathode material. The anode chamber is separated from the cathode chamber by solid body electrolyte guiding ions, and the anode chamber is limited on one side by the solid body electrolyte, on another side by a wall at least partially surrounding the solid body electrolyte. The wall is surrounded by a head part of the device, by a base part arranged opposite the head part and/or by a lateral part arranged between the head and base part. The wall has an electrical conductive wall section as an anode to the anode chamber, an at least partially flat, electrical conductive line section electrically connected to the wall section by a surface, and conductivity per surface of the line section greater than conductivity of the wall per surface of the wall section.

摘要: A process for treating an electrochemical cell is presented. The process includes charging the electrochemical cell in a discharged state to at least 20 percent state-of-charge of an accessible capacity of the electrochemical cell at a first temperature to attain the electrochemical cell in a partial state-of-charge or a full state-of-charge and holding the electrochemical cell in the corresponding partial state-of-charge or full state-of-charge at a second temperature. The first temperature and the second temperature are higher than an operating temperature of the electrochemical cell.

摘要: Apparatus and methods to reduce granule disruption during manufacture of electrochemical cells, such as a metal halide electrochemical cell, are provided. In one embodiment, a current collector can include a diffuser strip extending beneath an aperture configured to receive an injection stream of molten electrolyte. The diffuser strip can be configured to dissipate an injection stream of molten electrolyte when the molten electrolyte is injected into an electrochemical cell. In this way, disruption of a granule bed by the injection of the molten electrolyte during manufacture of the electrochemical cell can be reduced.
