The present invention discloses a novel milk-fermented product comprising a group of peptides. The peptides are composed from no. 1 to no. 7 of the figure that is selected from the group consisting of FIG. 11 to FIG. 18. And the novel milk-fermented product is used for suppressing the reduction of bone mineral density. Therefore, the novel milk-fermented product could be a component of foods, nutrient supplement or medicine for treating or preventing osteoporosis.

A method for identifying a molecule that binds an irradiated tumor in a subject and molecules identified thereby. In some embodiments, the method includes the steps of (a) exposing a tumor to ionizing radiation; (b) administering to a subject a library of diverse molecules; and (c) isolating from the tumor one or more molecules of the library of diverse molecules, whereby a molecule that binds an irradiated tumor is identified. Also provided are targeting ligands that bind an irradiated tumor and therapeutic and diagnostic methods that employ the disclosed targeting ligands.

The invention provides a bio-sensing nanodevice comprising: a stabilized G-protein coupled receptor on a support, a real time receptor-ligand binding detection method, a test composition delivery system and a test composition recognition program. The G-protein coupled receptor can be stabilized using surfactant peptide. The nanodevice provides a greater surface area for better precision and sensitivity to odorant detection. The invention further provides a microfluidic chip containing a stabilized G-protein coupled receptor immobilized on a support, and arranged in at least two dimensional microarray system. The invention also provides a method of delivering odorant comprising the step of manipulating the bubbles in complex microfluidic networks wherein the bubbles travel in a microfluidic channel carrying a variety of gas samples to a precise location on a chip. The invention further provides method of fabricating hOR17-4 olfactory receptor.

The present embodiments provide for compositions and methods that regulate microRNA-binding protein-mediated miRNA biogensis; for example Lin28-mediated biogenesis of let-7; and in particular Lin28A-recruited 3′ terminal uridylyl transferase (TUTase) uridylation of pre-let-7. A particular embodiment provide compositions and methods for screening for agents that inhibit TUTase-dependent Lin28A-mediated repression of let-7 miRNA.

Immunogens against human extended-progastrin species comprise (A) a mimetic peptide comprised of (i) the amino acid sequence of a progastrin or a N- and/or C-terminal processed species of a progastrin joined to (ii) a 7 amino-acid spacer coupled to (B) an immunogenic carrier. Illustrative of the mimetic peptide/spacer combination are a 21 amino-acid peptide (SEQ ID NO.: 1) and other, related polypeptides (SEQ ID NOs.: 2-5). Pharmaceutical compositions containing such an immunogen display improved immunological properties, including the induction of effective antibody levels shortly after the administration of an initial course of immunogen. Levels of antibody thus elicited stay elevated for several months and readily elevate to higher levels upon subsequent boosting by a single injection of immunogen.
