Abstract: The present invention provides an obstacle detecting system and method. The obstacle detecting system includes: a transmitting unit which emits a laser signal; a MEMS scanning mirror which scans detecting regions set at an angle of view at which obstacles in front of a vehicle are detected and a cut-in situation when a vehicle in a next lane suddenly cuts in is detected, and divides the detecting regions into a plurality of regions to scan the plurality of regions at different point intervals; a receiving unit which receives the laser signal transmitted from the MEMS scanning mirror to detect information on an object detected in the detecting regions; and a processing unit which detects the obstacles and the cut-in situation through the information detected in the receiving unit to issue an alarm or transmit a braking command.

Abstract: A method for operating a combine harvester configured with a number of working assemblies driven by at least one belt drive, and a ground drive, wherein the at least one belt drive and the ground drive are driven by a main drive comprising an engine, monitors for and accommodates slip. The working assemblies are monitored by sensors with respect to an occurrence of slip in the at least one belt drive. Signals representing slip are transmitted to a control device. The control device is connected to an input/output. The signals representing the slip are evaluated by the control device and the result is weighted. Depending on the weighting of the result, at least one measure is initiated by the control device, which results in a reduction of the slip and the at least one initiated measure is signalled by the input/output unit.

The system (102) may configure a processor (202) to execute computer-readable instructions (208) stored in a memory (206) in order to: capture a plurality of acceleration samples; compute Kurtosis values and Skewness values corresponding to a set of acceleration samples; filter the Kurtosis values; determine a probability distribution function of the filtered Kurtosis values; compute a mean and a standard deviation associated with the filtered Kurtosis values; determine a first threshold for each driver based upon the mean and the standard deviation; compute a first score for each driver based upon the first threshold and the number of trips; determine a second threshold; compute a second score for each driver based upon the second threshold and the number of trips; and evaluate driving behavior of a driver based upon the first score and the second score.
