Abstract:
Apparatus and method for detecting when an animal is or is closed to being in heat. An embodiment of the apparatus includes a switch, connectable to a power source and depressible so as to indicate potential mating behavior of an animal; a presentation interface; a timing component (which may include multiple timers) adapted to record a first duration of time when the switch transitions from a first state to a second state and a second duration of time when the switch transitions from the second state back to the first state; and a controller coupled to the switch, the presentation interface, and to the timer; the controller comprising a memory component, whereby input received via the switch can be stored in the memory component and utilized to display on the presentation interface an indication of breeding activities that persist for at least the first duration and are separated by at least the second duration.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention are directed toward a novel pressurized vapor cycle for distilling liquids. In some embodiments of the invention, a liquid purification system is revealed, including the elements of an input for receiving untreated liquid, a vaporizer coupled to the input for transforming the liquid to vapor, a head chamber for collecting the vapor, a vapor pump with an internal drive shaft and an eccentric rotor with a rotatable housing for compressing vapor, and a condenser in communication with the vapor pump for transforming the compressed vapor into a distilled product. Other embodiments of the invention are directed toward heat management, and other process enhancements for making the system especially efficient.
Abstract:
A method includes providing a light pipe having a metallized end surface, and soldering the metallized end surface of the light pipe to a surface of a substrate. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract:
A visualization program is embedded with data that is to be visualized. The program is restricted to accessing only the data with that is embedded within. The combination of the program and the data may be delivered to an end-user either on a machine readable medium or by a communication link such as the Internet.
Abstract:
Various methods and apparatuses are described in which a printed circuit board has trace lines. Input/output pads on the printed circuit board may have approximately the same width dimension as a trace line connected to those input/output pads. A first group of vias in the printed circuit board may be aligned into a planar line with a set corridor spacing between adjacent of groups of vias also aligned into a planar line with the same axis to allow a routing space for lines in multiple layers of the printed circuit board to occur in the routing space established by the set corridor spacing.
Abstract:
A high molecular weight (“HMW”) protein of Chlamydia, the amino acid sequence thereof, and antibodies that specifically bind the HMW protein are disclosed as well as the nucleic acid sequence encoding the same. Also disclosed are prophylactic and therapeutic compositions, comprising the HMW protein, a fragment thereof, or an antibody that specifically binds the HMW protein or a protein thereof, or the nucleotide sequence encoding the HMW protein or a fragment thereof, including vaccines.
Abstract:
A light pipe component designed with optically transparent material capable of transmitting and/or guiding optical wavelengths. The outer surface of each light pipe being coated with a metallic surface finish, with the exception of the ends of the light pipe. The light pipe component being placed on a PCB to form solder joints between the metallic surface finish of the light pipes and the PTH. The solder joints may now be used for transmitting both optical signals and electrical signals per each physical connection of the light pipes.
Abstract:
Numerous embodiments of a channeled heat dissipation device and a method of fabrication are disclosed. In one embodiment, a channeled heat dissipation device comprising a base portion having a dissipation surface and a substantially opposed mounting surface, and at least one channel defined in the base portion, wherein said at least one channel extends from said dissipation surface to said mounting surface.
Abstract:
An edging and curve-sawing saw has a selectively skewable sawbox, skewable to a workpiece infeed path so as to receive workpieces translated longitudinally along the infeed path and into the sawbox. The sawbox rotatably supports a saw arbor. A plurality of saw blades are slidingly mounted on the saw arbor in a parallel laterally spaced array. The saw blade array spacing is selectively adjustable device mounted to the sawbox. The array is slide on the arbor relative to the sawbox according to an optimized profile.
Abstract:
A first collar is releasably slidably journalled onto a selectively rotatable shaft so as to lie in a first plane generally perpendicular to the shaft. The first collar has a first helically inclined cam surface extending between a thin portion of the first collar and a thick portion of the first collar. A second collar is releasably mountable onto the shaft into fixed relation relative to the shaft, so as to lie in a second plane generally parallel to the first plane. The second collar has a cam follower surface such as a second helical inclined cam surface for sliding engagement over the first helically inclined cam surface between the thick portion and the thick portion of the first collar upon selective rotation of the shaft. First and second sawguides are slidably mounted on the shaft for longitudinal sliding thereon on opposed sides of the first and second collars. The first sawguide has the first collar rigidly mountable thereto, the first collar being adjacent the second collar. The second sawguide is adjacent the second collar. A press is provided for urging the first and second sawguides slidably towards each other along the shaft against the first and second collars respectively. The longitudinal translation of the second collar along the shaft relative to the first collar causes relative longitudinal translation between the first and second sawguides on the shaft.
