Abstract: An object of the invention is to improve the crystallization speed of a PHA copolymer which is to be slowly crystallized, and improve the melt workability and productivity. A microorganism is used which has genes encoding two or more different PHA synthases derived from the genus Aeromonas. The genes encoding the PHA synthases derived from the genus Aeromonas preferably include genes encoding at least two PHA synthases which are capable of synthesizing a copolymer PHA including, as monomer unit species, 3-hydroxybutyric acid and 3-hydroxyhexanoic acid, and which are different in substrate specificity toward 3-hydroxyhexanoic acid from each other. When this microorganism is cultured, a PHA mixture can be produced which includes three or more PHA species different in melting point from each other.

Abstract: A novel method of producing high-purity hydroxy-L-pipecolic acids in an efficient and inexpensive manner while suppressing the production of hydroxy-L-proline is provided. The method includes allowing an L-pipecolic acid hydroxylase, a microorganism or cell having the ability to produce the enzyme, a processed product of the microorganism or cell, and/or a culture liquid comprising the enzyme and obtained by culturing the microorganism or cell, to act on L-pipecolic acid as a substrate in the presence of 2-oxoglutaric acid and ferrous ion, wherein the L-pipecolic acid hydroxylase has the properties: (1) the enzyme can act on L-pipecolic acid in the presence of 2-oxoglutaric acid and ferrous ion to add a hydroxy group to the carbon atom at positions 3, 4, and/or 5 of L-pipecolic acid; and (2) the enzyme has a catalytic efficiency (kcat/Km) with L-proline that is equal to or less than 7 times the catalytic efficiency (kcat/Km) with L-pipecolic acid.

Abstract: A method of real-time prognosis of a flooding phenomenon in a packed column includes steps as follows. An online data collection step is conducted, wherein a plurality of values of the pressure drop are collected from the packed column under operation. A calculation step is conducted, wherein the values of the pressure drop are used to calculate a plurality of values of a steadiness index. A statistical step is conducted, wherein a value of a monitoring statistic is calculated based on the values of the steadiness index. A control step is conducted, wherein the value of the monitoring statistic is compared to a control limit, and an alarm is triggered when the value of the monitoring statistic is greater than the control limit.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to obtain fermentative yeast having highly efficient ethanol production without introducing a foreign gene. A further object is to obtain a fermentative yeast that is resistant to proliferation inhibitors such as organic acids, which prevent the proliferation of the fermentative yeast. Meyerozyma guilliermondii that can produce ethanol effectively from pentose and hexose was isolated by breeding. Moreover, resistance was imparted to the fermentative yeast by introducing transaldolase and alcohol dehydrogenase genes derived from Meyerozyma guilliermondii into the fermentative yeast.

Abstract: Isolated monoclonal antibodies are disclosed herein that specifically bind endoplasmin In some embodiments these antibodies are fully human.
