Abstract: Electrical modulation provides treatment of brain tumors, such as glioblastoma. An electrical stimulus may be applied to the brain of a patient with a brain tumor (e.g., primary or metastatic brain tumor in upfront, adjuvant, or recurrent treatment setting) via bitemporal and/or unitemporal electrodes. The electrical modulation acts on brain tumor networks to slow tumor growth and increase survivability of the patient. The electrical modulation also transiently permits passage of therapeutics across the blood-brain barrier. The electrical modulation also sensitizes brain tumors to radiation therapy, immunotherapy, and chemotherapy.

Abstract: In embodiments a wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD) system is worn by an ambulatory patient. The WCD system analyzes an ECG signal of the patient, to determine whether or not the patient should be given an electric shock to restart their heart. If the WCD system determines that such a shock should be given, then it also determines whether or not a High Frequency (H-F) noise criterion is met by the ECG signal. If that H-F noise criterion is not met, the patient can be shocked. If, however, that H-F noise criterion is met, then the WCD system can confirm before shocking, by sensing another portion of the ECG signal, analyzing again, and so on. Thanks to the confirmation before shocking, the possibility is diminished that the ECG signal will indicate that a shock is needed falsely, due to H-F noise. This can further reduce false patient alarms, and so on.

Abstract: A beauty instrument according to the present disclosure comprises a skin electrode disposed in a head, a grip electrode disposed in a grip, a voltage application circuit for applying a voltage between the skin electrode and the grip electrode to cause a current to flow between the skin electrode and the grip electrode through a human body, and a controller that controls the voltage application circuit. The controller comprises a touch detector that detects touch of a skin surface of the human body with the skin electrode. Before the touch detector detects the touch, the voltage application circuit is controlled to apply a first voltage having a relatively high frequency, and after the touch detector detects the touch, the voltage application circuit is controlled to apply a second voltage having a relatively low frequency.
