    摘要: A MMIC (microwave monolithic integrated circuit) power amplifier and method for the same is provided. A smaller die size and higher power output are realized with the improved transistor geometry herein provided. In particular, transistors, such as FETs (field effect transistors) are displaced from a conventional FET geometry with alternating FETs being rotated in opposite directions. The inputs (gate pads) and outputs (drain pads) of two adjacent FETs may be “shared.” The improved configuration reduces the number of splitting and combining networks by up to 50% over the prior art. The die area for a typical 4 watt power amplifier is reduced by 48-72% over the prior art.

    摘要: A multistage MMIC power amplifier with diagonal oriented field effect transistors (FETs) provides higher power output for a smaller MMIC die size. Corporate feed structures divide the RF input signal and combine the RF output signals and in a base two fashion. The corporate feed structures allow the FETs of the amplifier stages operate in-phase with adjacent circuitry appearing as an even-mode open circuit. The MMIC power amplifier is suitable for applications where reduced size, high efficiency and high gain are important, such as in commercial communication systems.

    摘要: The present disclosure includes an integrated full-duplex transceiver, which may be implemented on a single substrate or die. A single substrate may in turn, comprise, an I/O port configured for full-duplex operation, a transmit portion and a receive portion, a first mixer for up-converting a transmit signal, a second mixer for down-converting a receive signal, a first independently tunable local oscillator that drives the first mixer, and a second independently tunable local oscillator that drives the second mixer. The first independently tunable oscillator may facilitate up-conversion of a transmit IF signal, while a second independently tunable oscillator may facilitate down-conversion of a receive RF signal.

    摘要: The present disclosure relates to systems, devices and methods related to transmitters, and/or transceivers having a single, tunable oscillator in a dual conversion architecture. In various exemplary embodiments, this transmitter may include: a first mixer configured to receive a first oscillator signal from the single oscillator; a filter configured to band pass filter the converted signal and output a filtered signal; and a second mixer in communication with the filter, configured to receive the filtered signal. This dual conversion transmitter may be configured to receive a communication signal from an input to the transmitter and to output a converted signal based on the first oscillator signal and the communication signal. The second mixer may be configured to receive a scaled version of the first oscillator signal and to output a desired frequency output signal based on the scaled version of the first oscillator signal and the filtered signal.

    摘要: A method for conducting communications via a satellite includes providing a hub-spoke spot beam group. The hub-spoke spot beam group includes at least one fixed location spot beam illuminating a location containing a gateway terminal and at least one fixed location spot beam illuminating a location containing at least one user terminal. The satellite comprises a pathway associated with the hub-spoke spot beam group. At least one receive-side switch is sequentially switched to connect an input of the pathway with different spot beams within the hub-spoke spot beam group. At least one transmit-side switch is sequentially switched to connect an output of the pathway with different spot beams within the hub-spoke spot beam group. Beam switching patterns support both forward and return traffic within a frame.

The integrated transceiver includes a transceiver housing, where a waveguide is formed inside the transceiver housing using a housing base and a sub-floor component. Neither the housing base nor the sub-floor component alone is configured to operate as a waveguide. In an exemplary embodiment, a portion of the waveguide is cast into the housing base and is part of the transceiver housing. Furthermore, in an exemplary embodiment, an antenna system includes a feed horn, a polarizer, the integrated transceiver, and a transceiver circuit that communicates with the waveguide to transmit and receive radio frequency signals. The integrated transceiver, in the exemplary embodiment, includes a transceiver housing base that forms a portion of an integrated waveguide assembly, and another portion of the integrated waveguide assembly aligns with the transceiver housing base to form the integrated waveguide assembly.

    摘要: A method and system for a FET cell is presented. The FET cell includes multiple individual transistors and interconnect bumps that are configured to flip-chip connect to a substrate. The substrate may have the majority of a matching structure for the FET cell. Furthermore, the FET cell may include a stability circuit in communication with the terminals of the individual transistors and further in communication with the interconnect bumps. Additionally, different materials can be used in combination in the FET cell and the separate substrate having the majority of the matching structure. Various materials may be more efficiency used in a FET cell, while other materials are suitable for the separate substrate.

    摘要: In accordance with an exemplary embodiment, a system comprising a transceiver, a sensor and a controller is provided. The sensor is coupled to an electrical component in the transceiver and is configured to measure a thermal load on the electrical component. The controller is configured with a predetermined threshold, and is configured to reduce the voltage and current bias point, in the power amplifier, in response to the thermal load measurement being greater than the predetermined threshold. The system provides an inexpensive solution to the problem of shedding thermal load in transceiver systems and can be incorporated into new systems or adapted to legacy systems.
