    摘要: An ion trap analyzer, an ion trap mass spectrometry analysis method, and an ion fragmentation method are provided. The ion trap analyzer includes an ion trapping space enclosed by multiple electrodes (101, 102, 103, 11, 12, 214), where a high-frequency voltage is applied on at least a part of the electrodes, so as to generate, within the trapping space, a trapping electric field dominated by a quadratic field. The apparatus is provided with an ion ejection outlet (200) in at least one direction away from the center of the trap; an alternating voltage signal used for resonant excitation of ion motions is overlaid on an electrode part that is on a side of the ion ejection outlet and closest to the ejection outlet, while no voltage signal that is identical in range and phase with the alternating voltage is applied on at least one remaining electrode part in said direction. With the method, or by further applying, to the remaining electrode part in said direction, a voltage signal that is inverted to the alternating voltage, the orientation of an alternating electric field induced by the excitation alternating voltage signal can be limited, thereby improving the resonance ejection efficiency of the ion trap, reducing, in ion motions, motion coupling between an ejection direction and a non-ejection direction, and improving the viability of selecting the ion trap as a mass analyzer.

    摘要: A voltage supply system for supplying an RF voltage to an RF resonant load comprising an ion-optical component of a mass spectrometer is disclosed. The system comprises a Direct Digital Synthesiser (“DDS”) arranged and adapted to output an RF voltage. The voltage supply system is arranged and adapted: (i) to vary the frequency of the RF voltage output by the Direct Digital Synthesiser, (ii) to determine a first resonant frequency of the RF resonant load comprising the ion-optical component, and (iii) to determine whether or not the generation of an RF voltage at the first resonant frequency by the Direct Digital Synthesiser would also result in the generation of a spur frequency close to the first resonant frequency. If it is determined that a spur frequency would be generated close to the first resonant frequency then the voltage supply system is further arranged and adapted: (iv) to consult a look-up table comprising one or more preferred frequencies, and (v) to direct the Direct Digital Synthesiser to generate an RF voltage at a second frequency which corresponds with one of the preferred frequencies from the look-up table, wherein the second frequency is different to said first resonant frequency.

    摘要: A method for analyzing ionic structure, including: applying a radio frequency electric field on an ion mass analyzer to cause sample ions to be excited to a motion amplitude, the motion amplitude at this moment being recorded as a primary motion amplitude; continuously feeding carrier gas into the ion mass analyzer and keeping a certain degree of vacuum in the ion mass analyzer, the sample ions being collided with the carrier gas and the motion amplitude being decreased gradually, and collecting a time domain signal of an image current generated by the sample ions during the process; and analyzing the time domain signal through a time-frequency analysis method and obtaining time-varying characteristic curves indicating corresponding relations between the motion frequencies of the ions having corresponding sizes and the collision cross sectional areas of the ions and the carrier gas, thus distinguishing among ions having different sizes.

    摘要: A mass spectrometer is disclosed comprising a segmented linear ion guide or ion trap. Ions are confined radially within the ion guide or ion trap by the application of an AC or RF voltage to the electrodes forming the ion guide or ion trap. A quadratic DC potential is applied along the axial length of the ion guide or ion trap in order to cause trapped ions to perform simple harmonic motion within the ion guide or ion trap. The frequency of the oscillations of the ions is detected using one or more inductive detectors. The mass to charge ratio of the ions can then be determined from the determined frequency of oscillations.

    摘要: A RF only quadrupole rod set mass filter or mass analyzer and a linear quadrupole ion trap with axial ejection are disclosed comprising a first pair of rod electrodes, a second pair of rod electrodes and an energy filter. The first pair of rod electrodes is longer than the second pair of rod electrodes. Ions having desired mass to charge ratios experience fringing fields at an exit region which results in the ions possessing sufficient axial kinetic energy to be transmitted by the energy filter. Other ions possess insufficient axial kinetic energy to be transmitted by the energy filter and are attenuated.
