Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for storing a mark-up language file and delivering the file from a network server to a user's computer via a packet switched data network using a hyper-text transfer protocol (HTTP). The mark-up language file is stored in a storage area accessible by the network server, wherein the file contains information personal to the user. A notification is transmitted to the user's computer, wherein the notification serves to notify the user of the availability of the file. In response to a user request made in response to the notification, the mark-up language file is transmitted from the network server to the user's computer, via the packet switched data network, using the HTTP.
Abstract:
Provided is a system for user interaction with a computer system. The system includes a printed surface having visible graphical information indicating a user selectable operation, and coded data. The coded data has a plurality of marks positioned relative to a predetermined pattern, the predetermined pattern having a rotationally invariant structure and an orientation target structure. The system further includes an optical sensing device for capturing images of the coded data, and a processor for determining relative rotation of the coded data from the images.
Abstract:
An image recording apparatus includes an image capturing unit configured to capture an image of a subject, a recording unit configured to record one of still image data and video image data captured by the image capturing unit on a storage medium in the form of an image file, a generating unit configured to generate a management file used for managing the image file recorded on the storage medium, and a registering unit configured to register an identifier of the image file recorded on the storage medium in the management file on a capture date basis in the order of capture time.
Abstract:
A camera is provided having a camera module, a network interface module and printing module. The camera module receives user input and captures the image with an image sensor in response to the user input. The interface module transfers the captured image to a computer system. The printing module prints an interface onto a surface including the image and coded data at least partially indicative of an identity of the image. This allows the identity of the image to be obtained from the interface. The coded data is also at least partially indicative of at least one of a plurality of locations of the interface and a region of the interface. A sensing device generates indicating data at least partially indicative of at least one of a location of the sensing device relative to the interface and an identity of the region.
Abstract:
A method of gaining access to goods or services includes the steps of: writing a signature within a verification zone of an encoded base using an optically imaging pen having a marking nib; optically reading a sequence of absolute locations corresponding to the signature from the encoded base; and checking if the locations are within a region registered as belonging to an authorized user. Access to the goods or services is granted if the location is within the region belonging to the authorized user and the sequence of locations corresponds to a previously registered signature of the authorized user, otherwise access is denied.
Abstract:
A link information generation apparatus records a link information file on a recording medium on which a first folder holding a still picture file that includes still picture data and still picture imaging time information and a second folder holding one or more moving picture files each of which includes moving picture data are recorded at positions that are not in a containment relationship with each other. The link information generation apparatus includes: a moving picture specification unit (1131) that specifies a still-picture-linked moving picture imaged during a time period including a time shown by the still picture imaging time information of the still picture data; a position information obtainment unit (1132) that obtains still-picture-corresponding position information showing a position in the still-picture-linked moving picture corresponding to the still picture imaging time information; and a link information generation unit (1133) that generates link information including still picture identification information for identifying the still picture data, moving picture identification information for identifying the still-picture-linked moving picture, and the still-picture-corresponding position information, and records the link information file including the link information on the recording medium at a position not contained in any of the first and second folders.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for receiving and storing a message addressed to an intended recipient and for delivering the message to a client computer that has a graphical user interface. The received message is stored in a restricted-access message storage area associated with the intended recipient. A hyper-text transfer protocol daemon receives requests to access the storage area and the message, and transmits at least part of the message to the client computer.
Abstract:
A method of enabling a user to obtain a printed copy of a document previously printed by the user is provided. A history list of documents previously printed by the user is maintained. A list document is printed at a printer. The list document includes history items from the history list and a user interface element associated with each history item. The user interface element allows the user to indicate a request for a copy of a previously printed document associated with the history item by sensing the interface element in the printed list document using a sensing device. When request data is received from the sensing device, the copy is retrieved and printed.
Abstract:
A system for enabling user interaction with computer software which includes a printer for receiving print data, printing a form, using the print data, by printing information related to at least one text field coincident with coded data indicative of the text field, receiving indicating data from a sensing device and transferring the indicating data to a computer system to allow the interaction to be interpreted. The sensing device when moved relative to the text field senses the coded data and generates the indicating data using the sensed coded data to be indicative of the relative movement of the sensing device. The indicating data is indicative of a stroke defining a sequence of sensing device positions determined from the sensed coded data.
Abstract:
A system for printing and interacting with a document. The system comprises a computer system, a printer connected to the computer system and an optically imaging pen. When the computer receives a request for printing the document, it allocates a document identity and determines coded data for the document. The printer prints the document including visible information and the coded data. The printed document is interactive with respect to the optically imaging pen, which reads the coded data and sends corresponding data to the computer system for interpretation. The sent data may be used to generate an e-mail.
