摘要: A medical treatment system, such as peritoneal dialysis system, may include control and other features to enhance patient comfort and ease of use. For example, a cycler device (14) may include a heater bag receiving section (142) and a lid (143) mounted to cover and uncover the heater bag receiving section, potentially enabling faster heating of dialysate. A user interface (144) may be moveable to be received into the receiving section and covered by the Hd, if desired. The system may detect anomalous conditions, such as tilting of the system housing, and automatically recover without terminating a treatment. The system may include noise reduction features, such as porting pneumatic outputs to a common chamber, and others. The system may also automatically detect any one of several different solution lines (30) connected to the system, and control operation accordingly, e.g., to mix solutions provided by two or more lines and form a needed dialysate solution. A cassette control (148) surface may be arranged to have one or more ports that can detect the presence of liquid, e.g., to identify if the cassette (24) is leaking or has otherwise been compromised.

摘要: Methods and systems for measuring the volume of a liquid in a subject chamber, such as the mixing chamber in a system for mixing and delivering drugs, for example. A volume of a control gas in communication with the subject chamber is isolated, such that the total volume of the control gas and the liquid is held constant, and the initial pressure of the control gas is measured. Then, a known volume of liquid is moved into or out of the subject chamber. This known volume may be exchanged between the subject chamber and a measurement chamber, in order to determine this volume. The final pressure of the control gas is also measured after the reference volume has been removed from or added to the chamber and while the volume of control gas remains otherwise isolated. The volume of liquid in the chamber may then be measured based on (a) the initial pressure, (b) the final pressure, (c) the reference volume and (d) the volume of gas in the subject chamber when the subject chamber is empty of liquid.

摘要: A bedside-pharmacy system for the preparation and delivery of intravenous drugs. The system includes a liquid inlet for connection to a liquid supply, vial receptacles, and a liquid outlet for providing the intravenous drug in mixed, liquid form to the patient. The system may include a chamber having a variable volume, and a valve mechanism, which may be actuated to control flow between the liquid outlet, the variable-volume chamber, the vial receptacles and the liquid inlet. The system induces change in the volume of the variable-volume chamber and actuates the valve mechanism, so as to introduce liquid from the liquid inlet into the vials and reconstitute or dilute the drugs and so as to deliver the drugs to the patient. In a preferred embodiment, the liquid inlet, the vial receptacles, the variable-volume chamber, the liquid outlet and the valve mechanism (in other words, all components that come into contact with the liquid) are located in a disposable cassette, which may be received in a control unit. The system may include means for changing the chamber volume and actuating the valves so as to move the liquid repeatedly between a vial and the chamber. After the drug has been reconstituted, the system may cause the drug to be further diluted by providing an additional volume of liquid to be mixed with the drug. The system may further include a second chamber for delivery of the drug to the patient in precise quantities.

摘要: Disclosed are hemodialysis and similar dialysis systems including fluid flow circuits. Hemodialysis systems may include a blood flow path, and a dialysate flow path including balancing, mixing, and/or a directing circuits. Preparation of dialysate may be decoupled from patient dialysis. Circuits may be defined within one or more cassettes. The fluid circuit and/or the various fluid flow paths may be isolated from electrical components. A gas supply may be provided that, when activated, is able to urge dialysate through the dialyzer and blood back to the patient. Such a system may be useful during a power failure. The hemodialysis system may also include fluid handling devices, such as pumps, valves, mixers, etc., actuated using a control fluid. The control fluid may be delivered to the fluid handling devices using a detachable external pump. The fluid handling devices have a spheroid shape with a diaphragm dividing it into two compartments.
