Abstract:
Noise-reducing device intended to be added to a groove of the tread of a tire comprising an elastic sole preferably extending in a given longitudinal direction, wherein the said sole on one of its faces comprises one or several flexible walls the planes of which run substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the sole.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a rubber composition capable of sustaining improved on-ice performance of a tire over a long period of time. Specifically, the present invention provides a rubber composition having a rubber component (A) and a composite fiber (B), wherein the composite fiber (B) comprises: a fiber (B1) made of a hydrophilic resin; a covering layer (B2) made of a resin having an affinity for a rubber component and provided to cover at least a portion of the fiber; and a bonding layer (B3) present at least in a portion of an interface between the fiber (B1) and the covering layer (B2) and having affinities for both the hydrophilic resin and the resin having an affinity for the rubber component.
Abstract:
Device for embedding a thread in a rubber profiled element comprising: a continuous thread feeder arranged on a structure, a moving support able to run along the structure between a raised and a lowered position. A hollow needle, comprising a canal in which the thread runs is fixed by one of its ends to the base of the moving support in the duct, and a tip at its other end capable of penetrating the rubber profiled element, a cutter arranged on the structure, comprising a rotary blade able to cut off the thread at a given distance from the tip of the needle upon each cycle of reciprocating movement of the needle. The cutter comprises a paddle arranged behind the cutting wire of the blade and intended to fold the tail around the tip of the needle just after the thread has been cut by the blade.
Abstract:
A polymeric article includes an electrorheological (ER) fluid in a polymer medium. In some applications, the polymer medium forms a body ply of a tire. The ER fluid can be incorporated into the polymeric article in a number of particular ways. The ER fluid may simply fill a pocket in the polymeric article or may be part of an electrorheological composite or electrorheological microsphere. The ER fluid is responsive to the application of an electric field to change the apparent viscosity or elastic modulus of the polymeric article.

Abstract:
The invention pertains to a particle comprising a composition containing a matrix and a peroxide or azo radical initiator, wherein the particle is a fiber or fibrid selected from aramid, polyester, polyimide, cellulose, and glass. The invention further relates to particle-elastomers comprising said composition, and skim products, tires, tire treads, and belts comprising these particle-elastomers.
Abstract:
By using a vulcanized rubber composition containing a rubber component composed of at least any one of a natural rubber, a modified natural rubber and a synthetic rubber, and chemically modified microfibril cellulose, it is possible to provide a vulcanized rubber composition that is environmentally conscious and that exhibits excellent rupture characteristics and a low energy loss, and a pneumatic tire that is excellent in rolling resistance property, steering stability and durability.
Abstract:
The invention concerns tires having a composite tread block which comprises a cured elastomer and from 0.1 to 10 parts per hundred parts by weight of the elastomer of fibers characterized as having a tenacity of at least 6 grams per dtex and a modulus of at least 200 grams per dtex. A major portion of said fibers are oriented in a direction such that noise arising from tire tread contacting the road surface is reduced.
Abstract:
A tire has an axis of rotation. The tire includes two sidewalls extending radially outward and a tread disposed radially outward of the two sidewalls and interconnecting the two sidewalls. The tread includes a main portion comprising a first compound and a reinforcing structure comprising a second compound having reinforcing short fibers oriented between −20 degrees to +20 degrees to a circumferential direction of the tread. The main portion of the tread includes at least one circumferential groove separating circumferential ribs. Each circumferential groove has two sides and a base therebetween. The reinforcing structure includes a layer of the second compound secured to the sides of each circumferential groove.
