Abstract: The invention related to metal-supported solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), fuel cell stacks containing the same, methods of their manufacture and use thereof. The SOFC of the invention utilizes an extended electrolyte and barrier layers to prevent specific types of corrosion of the metal substrate. This new coating approach reduces the rate of degradation of the fuel cells and improves system reliability when operated over long durations.

Abstract: Methods of making fiber reinforced composite articles are described. The methods may include treating fibers with a sizing composition that includes a polymerization compound, and introducing the treated fibers to a pre-polymerized composition. The combination of the treated fibers and pre-polymerized composition may then undergo a temperature adjustment to a polymerization temperature at which the pre-polymerized composition polymerizes into a plastic around the fibers to form the fiber-reinforced composite article. Techniques for introducing the treated fibers to the pre-polymerized composition may include pultrusion, filament winding, reactive injection molding (RIM), structural reactive injection molding (SRIM), resin transfer molding (RTM), vacuum-assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM), long fiber injection (LFI), sheet molding compound (SMC) molding, bulk molding compound (BMC) molding, a spray-up application, and/or a hand lay-up application, among other techniques.

Abstract: An aircraft lifecycle in which digital data for an aircraft part is automatically collected, retained, and utilized to individualize aircraft inspection and maintenance is described. Several types of data, including non-destructive evaluation and measurement data and structural health monitoring data, are used in a feedback loop having various phases which may automatically receive data in digital format from other phases. In this manner the part being designed, fabricated, tested, and maintained for the aircraft is optimized and processes involved in the lifecycle of the part is made more efficient.

Abstract: The present invention provides a lithium secondary battery and a lithium secondary battery sub module including the same. The lithium secondary battery includes: an electrode assembly; a plastic case which houses the electrode assembly and includes a gas barrier layer; and a pouch film cover which seals the plastic case having the electrode assembly housed therein, such that it is possible to achieve a battery having a significantly increased thickness so as to increase the capacity thereof without structural limitation, secure durability of the battery due to having excellent resistance to permeability, and improve productivity due to a decrease in an occurrence of poor insulation. Thereby, the lithium secondary battery sub module including the lithium secondary battery may have a high energy density and may be formed in a compact shape with reduced manufacturing costs.

Abstract: A solar cell module comprising a plurality of solar cells mounted on a flexible support, the support comprising a conductive layer on the top surface thereof divided into two electrically isolated portions—a first conductive portion and a second conductive portion. Each solar cell comprises a front surface, a rear surface, and a first contact on the rear surface and a second contact on the front surface. Each one of the plurality of solar cells is placed on the first conductive portion with the first contact electrically connected to the first conductive portion so that the solar cells are connected through the first conductive portion. A second contact of each solar cell is then connected to the second conductive portion by a respective interconnect.

Abstract: A lithium ion (Li-ion) battery module includes a module terminal configured to electrically couple the Li-ion battery module to an electrical connector of an external load. The module terminal includes a conductive component and a sealing shim secured to the conductive component, the sealing shim being formed from a polymeric material. The Li-ion battery module includes a housing containing a plurality of Li-ion battery cells and having an opening through which the conductive component of the module terminal at least partially protrudes. The sealing shim of the module terminal is directly secured to the housing and forms a seal isolating an interior of the housing from the external environment.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing high efficiency solar cells is disclosed. The method comprises providing a thin dielectric layer and a doped polysilicon layer on the back side of a silicon substrate. Subsequently, a high quality oxide layer and a wide band gap doped semiconductor layer can both be formed on the back and front sides of the silicon substrate. A metallization process to plate metal fingers onto the doped polysilicon layer through contact openings can then be performed. The plated metal fingers can form a first metal gridline. A second metal gridline can be formed by directly plating metal to an emitter region on the back side of the silicon substrate, eliminating the need for contact openings for the second metal gridline. Among the advantages, the method for manufacture provides decreased thermal processes, decreased etching steps, increased efficiency and a simplified procedure for the manufacture of high efficiency solar cells.

Abstract: A tab, a preparation method thereof, and a battery including the tab are disclosed. The tab is a copper foil material, a surface of the copper foil material having a large compressive stress is an S surface, a surface having a small compressive stress is an M surface, and only the M surface is provided with an indentation or a reinforcing rib. In the preparation method of the tab of the disclosure, the S surface/M surface of the copper foil material are identified, and it is ensured that a feed direction is oriented so that the M surface faces outward (or inward), and winding/unwinding directions of each process and a mounting direction of an embossing device are reasonably fixed, so as to ensure that a tab emboss pattern of a product is pressed on the M surface of the copper foil material rather than the S surface or both surfaces.
