摘要: The present invention provides compositions comprising aligned fibers of electrospun PNIPAAm and poly (ε-caprolactone) (PCL) (denoted PNIPAAm/PCL fibers). The PNIPAAm/PCL compositions enable enhanced growth and detachment of intact anisotropic cell sheets. The compositions do not require chemical modification or resource-intensive techniques, thus saving time and expense, and have the potential to generate tissue-specific, aligned cell sheets for transplant studies.

摘要: A miniaturized device providing hyperspectral imaging in real-time includes a body, a camera within the body, a micro-LED array arranged around the camera within the body, and an imaging controller within the body and coupled to the camera and the micro-LED array. The micro-LED array includes micro-LEDs of varying spectral bands. A method for controlling an imaging device includes providing LED timing information and LED intensity information to a micro-LED array, providing camera timing information to a camera for capturing a plurality of images, and receiving the plurality of images from the camera. The timing information includes a timing signal to each micro-LED of the micro-LED array and each timing signal includes a pulse. An image of the plurality of images is captured for a time period associated with each timing signal.

摘要: In certain examples, methods and apparatus are directed to a resonator-based circuit which, in operation, has an electrically-conductive band (“band”) at least partially surrounding a center electrode which includes the piezoelectric material of the circuit's resonator. In particular examples, the band acts to electrically load vibrations near resonance and consequently, spurious mode suppression is realized. In more particular example embodiments, the band maintains TE mode while eliminating lateral spurious tones, and in one application-specific example, the resonator-based circuitry and the electrical-conductive band are to provide of facilitate piezoelectric power conversion.

摘要: The present invention includes compositions and methods for preparing micron-sized or submicron-sized particles by dissolving a water soluble effective ingredient in one or more solvents; spraying or dripping droplets solvent such that the effective ingredient is exposed to a vapor-liquid interface of less than 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 200, 400 or 500 cm−1 area/volume to, e.g., increase protein stability; and contacting the droplet with a freezing surface that has a temperature differential of at least 30° C. between the droplet and the surface, wherein the surface freezes the droplet into a thin film with a thickness of less than 500 micrometers and a surface area to volume between 25 to 500 cm−1.

摘要: A fully steerable flexible curved drilling robot device comprises a first flexible tube including a concentric through hole centered on a longitudinal axis, a second flexible tube including an eccentric through hole, wherein the second flexible tube is positioned in the concentric though hole of the first flexible tube, and configured to move translationally along the longitudinal axis and rotationally about the longitudinal axis, and a drill bit connected via a bearing to a flexible drive shaft, the drill bit positioned at a distal end of the first flexible tube, and wherein the flexible drive shaft extends through the eccentric through hole of the second flexible tube and is configured to provide a rotational torque to the drill bit. A steerable flexible curved drilling robot system and drilling method are also disclosed.

摘要: Certain embodiments are directed to Lipid Emulsions in Alginate Microspheres, e.g., Lipiodol Emulsion in Alginate Microspheres (LEAMs), as a chemoembolic agent. A oil in water emulsion of lipiodol can be stabilized within alginate microspheres at very high concentrations. These emulsion in alginate microspheres can be manufactured to any size range from 20 microns to 5000 microns. In certain aspects, an ultrasonic nozzle technology is used to manufacture small size microspheres of average diameter 50 microns. In other aspects, needle extrusion systems are used to manufacture large LEAMs termed Mega-LEAMs.
