摘要: An intelligent Caddy-Pilot for facilitating biometric verification. The device works as a single sign-on device for an internal VPN or network or in conjunction with a central data network and may act as a card reader for various Safe Card and traditional credit cards to perform secure transactions and other objective functions, or as an; instantaneous standalone biometric authentication and identification device. The Caddy-Pilot generally comprises a Credit Card-sized housing defining an end-wise card insertion port, a USB connection port, a magnetic card strip reader head, an internal infrared receiver/transmitter, a fingerprint scanner, LCD display screen, LED indicator lights, and a programmable microprocessor and memory. At issuance, an initial scan of the user's fingerprint is completed and a portion of the digitized fingerprints scan is stored locally on Caddy Pilot along with an image of the user for later authentication. The user may then employ the Caddy-Pilot by connection to any available USB port on a web enabled device to initiate both a local biometric-secure authentication sequence as well as a network biometric authentication single sign-on sequence to fully authenticate the user. Once authenticated the user is permitted access to requested resource or data.

摘要: A method and system for biometric-secure online selling, buying and bill paying in electronic commerce and retail point-of-sale settings that also simplifies the checkout process and eliminates fraudulent transactions. The system relies on an exchange service provider (ESP) that hosts multiple servers: one implementing a web portal for secure online banking, auctions and other exchange opportunities, another being a biometric fingerprint device authenticating database, and yet another being a transaction traffic manager. Participating banks and supporting institutions distribute and activate Secure Individual Identity Devices (SIIDs) to registered users, each SIID being a portable biometric activated identification device that locally stores a fraction of the enrolled users fingerprint (minutia) along with an encrypted code that is used to verify and authenticate the user, eliminating the use of personal or financial information for this purpose. The SiiD becomes the user's own personal key for completing secure online transactions. The user simply plugs their SiiD into any USB-equipped device and scans their own fingerprint for each transaction. The encrypted codes are authenticated in the ESP database and the transaction is processed to the appropriate financial institutions.

摘要: A method of data recovery includes receiving a data stream of data bits and splitting the data stream to N identical input data streams where N is an integer greater than 1. Each of the N input data streams is delayed with respect to the preceding one by a bit time divided by N. Each of the N delayed input data streams is then sampled using a local clock to provide N samples which form an N-bit sample code per clock period. At least two successive sample codes are decoded to select one of the N delayed input data streams most aligned with the local clock. The selected data stream is thereby retimed to the local clock for synchronous processing of the data stream payload. The local system clock is held constant in the presence of multiple asynchronous data streams for improved robustness in overall system performance.

摘要: Methods for characterizing and distinguishing reticulocytes and mature red blood cells use reagent compositions which include organic cationic dyes for staining the reticulocytes in the blood sample and buffer solutions for maintaining a pH of about 6 to about 9. The dyes may be the blue absorption dyes Oxazine 750 or New Methylene Blue. When a zwitterionic surfactant is included in the reagent composition for isovolumetric sphering of the reticulocytes and erythrocytes, and the reagent composition and whole blood sample mixture is passed through the sensing region of a flow cytometer, the light scattered and absorbed by each cell is measured, the erythrocytes can be distinguished from reticulocytes and the volume, hemoglobin concentration and the hemoglobin content of each reticulocyte or erythrocyte, and the mean cell volume, mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration, and mean cell hemoglobin of the reticulocytes or erythrocytes are calculated from the measured cell-by-cell volume and hemoglobin concentration. One method also includes adjusting the measured absorption signals for pseudo-absorption.

摘要: A thermode having a relatively long and thick blade composed of a high thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion material, e.g., molybdenum, provides an elongated contact surface for bonding a row of leads of an electronic component to a circuit board. A thermode holder is coupled to the blade by means of a plurality of struts, including a pair of outer struts, each connected at one end of the respective ends of the blade and at an acute angle facing the other outer strut, and a pair of shorter inner struts, each connected with the blade intermediate the ends of the blade and at an acute angle facing the outer strut adjacent thereof, such that in response to a force urging the blade against the circuit board, the outer struts cause a negative deflection of the blade with respect to the board and the inner struts decrease the magnitude of the deflection. The blade is heated by electric current supplied thereto from a transformer through the inner and outer struts. A step in the contact surface of the blade provides an acceptally narrow bonding footprint while allowing use of a desirably thermally massive thick blade.
