Disclosed is a binder, which comprises polymer particles obtained by polymerization of: (a) 1˜80 parts by weight of a (meth)acrylic acid ester monomer; (b) 1˜20 parts by weight of an unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer; and (c) 0.001˜40 parts by weight of a vinyl monomer, based on 100 parts by weight of the binder polymer, and which allows electrode active material particles capable of lithium intercalation/deintercalation to be fixed and linked among themselves, and between the particles and a collector. An electrode comprising the binder, and a lithium secondary battery having the electrode are also disclosed. Further, a method for evaluating interrelation between wettability of a binder to an electrolyte and quality of a battery comprising the binder is disclosed.

The present invention provides the lithium secondary battery including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a non-aqueous electrolyte solution. The negative electrode includes a water-dispersible binder and a conduction agent. The non-aqueous electrolyte solution includes fluoroethylenecarbonate (FEC). The batteries of the present invention are advantageous in that they have a high efficiency charging lifespan characteristic and enable high capacity charging in a short time.

Provided is a lithium secondary battery with enhanced energy density including a cathode using a cathode active material containing lithium mixed transition metal oxide absorbing and discharging lithium ions, wherein a final discharge voltage is in the range of about 1.5 V to about 2.75 V. A final discharge voltage can be reduced to 1.5 V to 2.75 V from 3.0 V by using various lithium mixed transition metal oxides as a cathode active material, or by using the various lithium mixed transition metal oxides with the LCO-based cathode material mixed. Compared to typical LCO-based cathode materials of which capacity and energy density do not change even if a final discharge voltage is decreased, a cathode material of the present invention results in further improving capacity by 10-20% as the final discharge voltage is decreased.

More particularly, the present invention relates to a cap assembly for a cylindrical secondary battery, in which the support unit of a current interrupt device (CID) is seated in the inclined portion or the terraced portion of a gasket and thus the battery is dually sealed, thereby preventing the leakage of an electrolyte, and a cylindrical secondary battery including the cylindrical secondary battery. The cap assembly of the present invention is dually sealed for the leakage of an electrolyte. Accordingly, there is an advantage in that the safety of the battery can be greatly improved because the electrolyte is rarely leaked although the battery is shocked because of dropping.
