摘要: There is provided a personal care product having a drying agent incorporated into it. The drying agent can reduce or control the relative humidity in the air enclosed by a personal care product significantly. Such a drying agent may be a desiccant or humectant or a combination of both. The drying agent may function using chemical or physical means and may be in fibrous, particulate or other form. The reduction of the relative humidity within a personal care product will reduce skin hydration which is believed to reduce redness and irritation due to contact with fluids.

摘要: A vaginal treatment composition that rapidly forms a gel when placed into contact with monovalent or polyvalent cations, such as sodium (Na+) and calcium (Ca2+) cations naturally found in vaginal mucosa, is provided. The gel may form in less than about 1 hour, in some embodiments less than about 1 minute, and in some embodiments, less than about 30 seconds. Among other things, such rapid gelation reduces the likelihood of leakage during use. In addition, because the gel may form intravaginally, it is more likely to retain its structure and shape over an extended period of time. In this manner, the gel may provide the prolonged release of a therapeutic agent that inhibits and/or treats vaginal infection. For instance, the gel may remain within the vagina for about 2 to about 48 hours to provide the desired effect.

摘要: This invention concerns extrudates having high surface area materials and at least one metal ion adsorbed onto the high surface area material. The extrudates may be breathable films, multilayer laminates and pultruded articles. The extrudates may be made into storage and packaging material to reduce odor and retard the ripening of fruit. The extrudates, if in the form of a breathable film or multilayer laminate may be used as outer cover material for personal care products like diapers, adult incontinence products, training pants and the like. The high surface area particle-containing extrudate may be made by adding modified nanoparticles to a filler before the filler is treated with a fatty acid. Alternatively, a filler previously treated with a fatty acid may be modified by subjecting the filler to sonic energy in the presence of an aqueous solution of metal ions and nanoparticles.

摘要: There is provided a new thermo-gelling composition made with methylcellulose and citric acid. This composition may also have an effective amount of a treating agent, which may be a medicinal agent, cosmetic agent, moisturizer, adjuvant, nutritional agent, other ingredients and combinations thereof. The composition is useful in delivering moisturizers or pharmaceutically active agents to the user in a controlled release manner through the mucosal tissues in a body cavity, or on body surfaces, or as a subcutaneously injected medicament. The composition may also be used as a replacement for the soft tissues of the body as in, for example, the foot cushion and cartilage repair.

摘要: An absorbent pad configured for placement under a patient to absorb bodily fluids includes a liquid permeable cover layer, a liquid impermeable back sheet, and an absorbent structure disposed between the cover layer and the back sheet. At least one of the cover layer, back sheet, or absorbent structure incorporates a dried application of a liquid activated carbon ink having activated carbon, a binder, and a solvent, with the dried application of ink having a solids add-on level of at least about 2%. The activated carbon ink is applied in a pattern over between about 25% to about 95% of a total upper surface area of the pad and presents a visually contrasting color against a background color of the pad or a contrasting ink.

The method comprises forming a coordination complex between a transition metal and a polydentate compound, and contacting the coordinated complex with an odorous compound. The transition metal provides one or more active sites for capturing the odorous compound. In some embodiments, the polydentate compound may be a polyalkylimine, such as polyethyleneimine, polypropyleneimine, or a dendrimer thereof.

摘要: This invention concerns coatings having high surface area materials and at least one metal ion adsorbed onto the high surface area material as well as substrates having the coating and methods of applying the coating. The substrates may be films, woven fabrics or may be nonwoven fabrics. The coatings have good odor and/or gas absorbing capabilities. Nonwoven fabrics include tissues, towels, coform materials, bonded carded webs, spunbond fabrics and so forth. The substrates may be made into storage and packaging material to reduce odor and retard the ripening of fruit. The substrates may be used in personal care products, to produce clothing for military and civilian applications and many other applications.
