摘要: An approach is provided for processing promotional information for facilitating a point-of-sales transaction via radio frequency (RF) memory tags. A platform causes, at least in part, a capture of promotional information from a radio frequency memory tag associated with a merchant. The tags are placed at locations including a point-of-sales terminal, store entrance or near a poster to facilitate customer access. The platform processes and/or facilitates a processing of the promotional information to present one or more offers at a device, and receives an input for selecting at least one of the one or more offers for redemption. In response, the platform causes, at least in part, a validation of the redemption of at least one of the one or more offers. The platform then causes, at least in part, a presentation of the validation at the device for a confirmation by the merchant.

摘要: A noncloning method for expressing a gene of interest in a mammalian host cell is disclosed. The invention utilizes three basic individual elements: (1) a promoter element; (2) at least one gene of interest; and (3) a selectable marker cassette which includes in 5' to 3' order, an internal ribosome entry site ("IRES"), at least one gene coding for a selectable marker, and a transcription termination sequence. The three individual elements are cotransfected into a mammalian host cell where they become operably linked such that expression of the selectable marker gene(s) necessarily requires coexpression of the gene of interest.

摘要: Chimeric antigens derived from hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) are described which form virus-like particles when co-expressed with an excess of hepatitis B virus surface antigen (HBsAg). The chimeric antigens are fusion proteins containing an immunogenic peptide derived from an HCV protein coupled to the amino terminus of HBsAg. Also described are nucleic acid constructs and vectors for transfection of cells and expression of the chimeric antigens. The invention further provides methods for producing HBV/HCV virus-like particles containing the chimeric antigens, cell lines for producing the virus-like particles, combination vaccines containing the virus-like particles, and DNA vaccines that express the virus-like particles.

摘要: The invention provides a method of activating hepatitis C virus (HCV)-specific T cells, including CD4+ and CD8+ T cells. HCV-specific T cells are activated using fusion proteins comprising HCV NS3, NS4, NS5a, and NS5b polypeptides, polynucleotides encoding such fusion proteins, or polypeptide or polynucleotide compositions containing the individual components of these fusions. The method can be used in model systems to develop HCV-specific immunogenic compositions, as well as to immunize a mammal against HCV.
