Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a camouflage tire suitable for use in various vehicle use environments wherein it is desirable to reduce or eliminate a viewer's visual perception of the tire against the given environmental background.
Abstract:
Pneumatic rubber tire with an outer, circumferential tread comprised of a cis 1,4-polybutadiene-rich and silica-rich rubber composition which contains specified elastomers with spatially defined glass transition temperatures, in conjunction with silica and specified carbon black reinforcement.
Abstract:
A pneumatic tire having a rubber sidewall including (A) 30 to 80 phr of natural rubber; (B) 20 to 70 phr of cis 1,4-polybutadiene rubber; (C) from 10 to 100 phr of silica; and (D) from 1 to 30 phr of a particulate rubber gel filler selected from the group consisting of polybutadiene gel, styrene butadiene gel, acrylonitrile-butadiene gel, chloroprene gel, natural rubber gel, and mixtures thereof.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a tire having at least one component (e.g. tread) of a rubber composition comprised of a composite of styrene/butadiene elastomer and functionalized styrene/butadiene elastomer containing an internal silanol and/or siloxy group therein with pendent silanol and/or alkoxy groups of a polymodal (e.g. bimodal) molecular weight distribution and a dispersion therein of silica aggregates of which a portion thereof contain a plurality of hydroxyl groups on their surface in a form of geminal hydroxyl groups. In one aspect, said silica aggregates may be pre-treated to reduce said hydroxyl groups on their surface prior to blending with said silanol and/or siloxy functionalized elastomer.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a pneumatic tire having a rubberized component comprising: (a) 100 parts by weight of at least one rubber containing olefinic unsaturation; and (b) 1 to 110 phr of a polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to a pneumatic tire having at least one component comprising a vulcanizable rubber composition, wherein the vulcanizable rubber composition comprises, based on 100 parts by weight of elastomer (phr), from about 30 to 100 phr of high trans random SIBR, and from about zero to about 70 phr of at least one additional elastomer, wherein the high trans random SIBR comprises from about 3 to about 30 percent by weight of styrene.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a tire having a rubber tread of a lug and groove configuration and of a co-extruded cap/base construction; wherein the tread cap is of a rubber composition which contains carbon black and is thereby of a black color; wherein a visible surface of at least one groove is of a rubber composition exclusive of carbon black and is of a non-black color and wherein said visible non-black colored rubber composition is a rubber layer which underlies said tread cap. Said visible non-black colored rubber is exclusive of any appreciable portion of, and preferably exclusive of, the surface of said tread lugs intended to be ground-contacting. In one aspect of the invention, said non-black colored rubber composition contains an amorphous precipitated silica reinforcement, preferably a pre-hydrophobated precipitated silica. In another aspect of the invention, said non-black colored rubber composition, and alternately, carbon black containing black colored rubber compositions adjoining said non-black colored rubber composition, is comprised a blend of at least one diene based elastomer and a brominated copolymer of isobutylene and p-methylstyrene together with an organo phosphite.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a conjugated diene-based rubber composition reinforced with silica-based reinforcement together with a non-silane coupling agent as N-3-(1,2-dihydroxypropyl)-N-oleylammonium bromide and/or N-3-(1,2-dihydroxypropyl)-N-methyl-2-mercaptoimidazolium bromide for endeavoring to both couple synthetic aggregates of precipitated silica to elastomers and enhancing electrical conductivity of such rubber compositions which contain less than 25 parts by weight carbon black per 100 parts by weight elastomer. Said coupling agent materials may be provided for mixing with said diene-based rubber(s), for example, as individual materials, as at least one of said materials being supported on a carbon black carrier or as being pre-reacted, or otherwise pre-treated, with synthetic silica aggregates. The invention includes an article of manufacture, including a tire, having at least one component comprised of such rubber composition.
