摘要: A completion tool for gravel pack and frac pack operations for installing a sump packer and perforating a casing in one trip of a work string. The completion tool is disposed on the end of a work string and includes a perforating gun and a packer attached to the distal end of the completion tool by a coupling. The coupling is such that once the packer is set, the rest of the completion tool can be detached from the packer. After detachment, the completion tool can be repositioned to fire the perforating gun. Positioning of the packer and perforating gun may be accomplished by correlating off of other equipment or by use of logging-while-drilling or measurement-while-drilling equipment incorporated into the completion tool.

摘要: An apparatus and method for resuscitating a patient suffering from cardiac arrest or another condition in which normal circulation has been interrupted. A ventilator is used for delivering a gas mixture to the patient. The ventilator is configured to adjust the partial pressure of CO2 to one or more partial pressures high enough to slow expiration of CO2 from the patient's lungs and thereby maintain a reduced pH in the patient's tissues for a period of time following return of spontaneous circulation.

摘要: An apparatus for placing spheres at predetermined positions on a substrate. The apparatus includes a platform to support the substrate at a first sphere placement position in the apparatus, and a placement station disposed above the platform that places spheres at locations on the substrate. The placement station includes a first container having a chamber to contain spheres, and a first carrier tray having a substantially horizontal upper surface that forms a lower surface of the chamber. The upper surface has a first section and a second section, the second section having a plurality of holes formed therein to receive spheres. The first carrier tray is movable to position the second section between a fill position beneath the first container and a place position disposed over the first sphere placement position. The placement station is constructed and arranged to fill the plurality of holes with spheres when the second section is in the fill position, and place the spheres at the predetermined positions on the substrate when the second section is in the place position.

摘要: A cuvette holder is provided to allow a flow cell optical analyzer to be adapted for coagulation analysis. The flow cell analyzer has a light source and a photo detector defining a first and a second end of an optical path, a vacuum source for drawing a liquid sample through a flow cell positioned in the optical path so that light from the light source passes through the sample, and means for analyzing data collected at the photo detector. The coagulation analyzer has a light source and a photo detector defining the respective ends of an optical path, a cuvette containing a liquid sample positioned in the optical path for passage of light from the light source through the liquid sample, a means for agitating the liquid sample and a means for analyzing data collected at the photo detector. The adaptation is achieved by removing the flow cell and replacing the flow cell with a cuvette holder comprising an opening for receiving and holding the cuvette in the light path and communicating the vacuum source to the cuvette holder, the means for agitating provided by a magnetic stirring bar in the cuvette, the stirring bar being magnetically coupled to a rotor rotatably mounted in a rotor housing below the cuvette and having a permanent magnet mounted on a top surface thereof, wherein the rotor is rotated in the rotor housing by an air pressure differential in the rotor housing created by the communication of the vacuum source to the cuvette holder.

摘要: Optical alignment for piston driven chest compression devices optimizes the application of chest compressions to a fixed location on a subject's chest and provides information regarding the depth and frequency of chest compressions. The targeting system records and may display some telemetry corresponding to any movement or “walking” away from the selected compression site as well as the depth and frequency of compressions. The targeting system is interconnected to the compression device controller and the targeting system provides warnings to operators if the compression components contact the subject outside a preset warning limit away from the selected compression site. The targeting system may also halt the compression device if the site of contact between the compression components and the subject is located outside a preset absolute limit.
