    摘要: A method and apparatus for controlling a power transmitting system for an automotive vehicle, including a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and an auxiliary transmission which is connected to the CVT and which is automatically shifted from one of two or more forward drive positions to the other depending upon operating conditions of the vehicle. To control the speed ratio of the CVT, a target speed of the input shaft of the CVT is determined according to one of different relationships between the target speed and at least one variable such as a currently required output of the engine. The relationships are stored in memory, corresponding to the forward drive positions of the auxiliary transmission. The appropriate relationship is selected depending upon the forward drive position in which the auxiliary transmission is currently placed while the transmission shift lever is in an auto-shift or engine-brake position. The automatic shift-down and shift-up operations of the auxiliary transmission may be effected according to predetermined shift patterns corresponding to drivability modes of the vehicle selected on a suitable drivability selector device.

The apparatus includes a reverse inhibit valve disposed in a hydraulic line leading to the hydraulic actuator and having a reverse inhibit position for inhibiting the mechanism from being placed in the reverse position and a non-inhibit position for permitting the mechanism to be placed in the reverse position. The apparatus uses a first and a second pilot pressure generating device for producing a first and a second pilot pressure, respectively. A relay valve is provided for producing a first hydraulic signal for establishing the reverse inhibit position of the reverse inhibit valve, based on one of combinations of operating states of the two pilot pressure generating devices, and a second hydraulic signal for establishing the non-inhibit position, based on the other combinations.

    摘要: An apparatus for controlling a vehicle continuously variable transmission, including a directional control valve having a first spool movable between a shift-down and a shift-up position, a flow control valve including a second spool movable between a flow-restricting and a non-restricting position, and a first and a second solenoid-operated valve for applying an actuating pressure to the first and second spools. The directional control valve may have a shift-down chamber for receiving a pilot pressure to move the first spool to the shift-down position when a failure of one of the solenoid coils exists while the vehicle speed is lower than a predetermined limit.

A ring gear (114), a planetary carrier (126), and a sun gear (112) of the double-pinion planetary gear (110) are respectively linked with a crankshaft (104) of the engine (102), a drive shaft (108), and the first motor (MG1). The engine (102), the second motor (MG2), the double-pinion planetary gear (110), and the first motor (MG1) are arranged sequentially along an axis running from the front to the rear of a vehicle. The second motor (MG2) is required to output a greater torque than that of the first motor (MG1) and accordingly has a larger size. The second motor (MG2) is, however, disposed closer to the engine (102) and thereby has a sufficient margin in the diametral direction. This configuration reduces the size of the whole power output apparatus (100).

The apparatus includes a pressure regulating valve which has a valve spool for regulating the actuating pressure in the driven side actuator, and a pressure-reducing chamber for receiving a pressure-reducing pilot pressure for biasing the spool for reducing the actuating pressure. The apparatus further includes a pilot pressure generator for generating the pressure-reducing pilot pressure to be applied to the pressure-reducing chamber, when the detected vehicle running speed exceeds a predetermined value.
