    摘要： Constructions are provided in missiles for use in target games employing so called hooking materials or the like to retain the missiles against the targets. In one form, the missile is in the shape of a lightweight hollow ball, the outer surface of which is substantially entirely covered with a hook or broken loop filamentary material provided in a plurality of sheet-like formations thereof. In another form, the missile is formed of a molding having filamentary hook- or loop-like formations integrally molded as part of the missile base. In yet another form, the missile is formed of a lightweight plastic and hooklike formations of filamentary material are propelled against an adhesive coating the missile or a molten portion of the surface stratum thereof and are embedded therein across substantially the entire surface of the missile.

    摘要： An apparatus and method for reproducing information recorded on magnetic tapes stored in a plurality of cartridges for the purpose of displaying or otherwise utilizing said information. In one form the cartridges are disposed side-by-side on a retainer which is moved with respect to a transducer to align a selected cartridge with said transducer to permit the transducing of information relative to the tape of the selected cartridge. In another form the transducer is moved past an array of cartridges and is stopped in alignment with a selected cartridge after which operative coupling is effected between the transducer and the tape of the selected cartridge. In a third form, both the array of cartridges and transducer are moved. Means are also provided for coupling a drive means associated with the transducer to a selected tape cartridge upon alignment of the two, to effect movement of the tape in the cartridge past the transducer for scanning selected portions of the tape. The apparatus also includes remote control and automatic control elements for the means selectively positioning the cartridges and transducer and driving the tape in the selected cartridges. In yet another form, cartridges are provided which are totally enclosed to protect the tape therein and an access door is opened to the cartridge upon aligning and coupling a selected cartridge and the transducer.

    摘要： An information storage and reproduction apparatus is provided in which information such as picture information is stored on a plurality of record members and selectively scanned to generate images in viewable or monitorable form. In one form of the invention, the information is provided on filmstrip as images and a scanning apparatus therefore is remotely controlled to selectively scan the recordings and generate images on a viewing screen located remote from the record members. In another form of the invention, the information is recorded as signals defined by variable magnetic recordings in different magnetic recording members and a scanning apparatus is provided in the form of magnetic transducing means which is selectively conveyed to selected magazines containing the record members having different picture signals recorded thereon. The conveying means may be utilized to both scan and drive the record member to generate picture signals. In yet another form of the invention, magnetic recordings of video picture signals are provided on a plurality of magnetic cards which are selectively scanned to generate reproductions of the video picture signals which are presented to a monitoring apparatus and utilized to generate still images on the viewing screen thereof.

    摘要： An automatic measurement apparatus is provided which employs a device for scanning work to be measured by the relative movement of a sensor and the work whereby the sensor senses one or more surfaces of the work. Means are provided for generating code signals indicative of the relative movement and further means are provided for visually presenting information as a readout which indicates the locations of one or more surfaces with respect to a base or bench mark location. In a particular form of the invention, the distance between two surfaces may be automatically indicated on said readout device.

    摘要： An apparatus and method for producing composite materials and the materials made thereof are provided. In one form, one or more sheet metal materials are continuously extruded to shape and are combined with a core material in a rolling mill to provide a composite structure having improved characteristics imparted thereto by both core and encapsulating materials. The core material may comprise a plurality of reinforcing elements such as filaments, wires, whiskers or a grid fed to the bite of two extruded sheets or otherwise formed shapes which are made to flow over and around the reinforcing elements and to encapsulate same therebetween as the two sheets are roll bonded or welded together and reduced in thickness to form a third composite sheet formation thereof. In another form, individual articles are disposed on top of a first freshly extruded sheet and are encapsulated in a composite sheet formed of said first sheet and a second sheet disposed thereagainst and roll bonded thereto in a rolling mill. The oxide free, high-temperature condition of the two sheets, as extruded, is utilized to fabricate improved composite sheet materials without the difficulties normally experienced in fabricating sheet materials from cold stock.
