    摘要: The invention relates to a process for making modified polybutylene terephthalate random copolymers from a polyethylene terephthalate component. In one embodiment, the invention relates to a two step process in which a 1,4-butane diol component reacts with a polyethylene terephthalate component under conditions that depolymerize the polyethylene terephthalate component into a molten mixture and the molten mixture is placed under subatmospheric conditions that produce the modified polybutylene terephthalate random copolymers. In another embodiment, the invention relates to a three step process in which a diol component selected from the group consisting of ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, and combinations thereof reacts with a polyethylene terephthalate component under conditions sufficient to depolymerize the polyethylene terephthalate component into a first molten mixture; and where the first molten mixture is combined with 1,4-butane diol under conditions that create a second molten mixture that is subsequently placed under subatmospheric conditions that produce the modified polybutylene terephthalate random copolymers. The invention also relates to compositions made from processes of the invention.

    摘要: A thermoplastic composition comprises a polysiloxane/polyimide block copolymer and a polyester/polyether block copolymer. The polysiloxane/polyimide block copolymer has 5 to 50 weight percent (wt %) polysiloxane, based on the total weight of the polysiloxane/polyimide block copolymer. The polyester/polyether block copolymer has 5 to 30 wt % polyether based on the total weight of the polyester/polyether block copolymer. In some embodiments the polysiloxane/polyimide block copolymer is present in an amount of 75 to 99 wt % and the polyester/polyether block copolymer is present in an amount of 1 to 25 wt %, with the weight percent of the block copolymers based on the combined weight of the two block copolymers.

    摘要: A process for preparing a sulfonate terminated polyarylate comprises blending a polyarylate resin with an organic compound to form a reaction mixture, wherein the organic compound contains at least one aliphatic primary amine functional group and at least one other functional group selected from the group consisting of sulfonic acids, sulfonic acid salts, and mixtures thereof, and heating the reaction mixture to a temperature of 225 to 400° C. The temperature of heating is above the glass transition temperature of the polyarylate resin. Sulfonate terminated polyarylates and compositions prepared using the above process, and articles comprising the sulfonate terminated polyarylate compositions, are also disclosed.

The compositions have improved properties such as improved load bearing capability at high temperature, better impact strength, and a high crystallization temperature.
