摘要: A mechanical part comprises a sliding section and a sleeve section which are prepared separately. The sliding section is made of a wear resisting material such as ceramics and formed with a planar sliding surface at one of the sides thereof. The sliding section is further formed with a joining portion at the outer periphery thereof. The sleeve section is made of metal and formed with a joining portion at the inner periphery thereof. The joining portions of the sliding section and the sleeve section are joined by interference fit or the like, whereby to allow the sliding surface of the sleeve section to be formed into a crowned shape.

摘要: A tappet for an internal combustion engine consists of a tappet main body and a ceramic seat plate brazed to the tappet main body. The tappet main body is made up of a first part made of low carbon steel and a second part made of metal. In manufacture, the first and second parts are first welded together to constitute the tappet main body, and then the ceramic seat is brazed to the tappet main body. The low carbon steel forming the first part of the tappet main body has such a property that when carburized it can be hardened by making use of the heat for the brazing, and the metal forming the second part of the tappet main body has such a property that it can be hardened by making use of the heat for the brazing.

摘要: A failure determination apparatus for a vehicle includes: a failure determination element configured to determine that failure occurs at the vehicle when a state with failure detection continues for a first period, and to determine that the failure is resolved when a state without the failure detection continues for a second period; a notification element configured to notify failure information to an external device when the failure determination element determines that the failure occurs at the vehicle; a repair completion detection element configured to detect completion of repair of the vehicle with respect to the failure; and a short-cut element configured to shorten the second period when the repair completion detection element detects the completion of repair of the vehicle.

摘要: A silicon nitride sintered material containing a silicon nitride component and silicon carbide having an average particle size of 1 μm or less in an amount of at least 1 mass % and less than 4 mass %, based on 100 mass % of the silicon nitride component. The carbide is dispersed in the silicon nitride component, and the silicon nitride sintered material has a thermal expansion coefficient of at least 3.7 ppm/° C. between room temperature and 1,000° C. The silicon nitride component contains a rare earth element in an amount of 15-25 mass % as reduced to a certain oxide thereof and Cr in an amount of 5-10 mass % as reduced to a certain oxide thereof, and a crystalline phase is present in intergrain regions of the sintered material.

摘要: A silicon nitride—tungsten carbide composite sintered and process for preparing the same which contains silicon nitride and tungsten carbide, and is characterized in that the total in amounts of an entirety of rare earth elements as reduced to certain corresponding oxides thereof, the elements being contained in the sintered material, and excess oxygen as reduced to silicon dioxide is 6-20 mass %; the ratio, on a mol basis, of (the amounts of rare earth elements as reduced to the certain corresponding oxides thereof)/(the amounts of the rare earth elements as reduced to the corresponding oxides thereof+the amount of excess oxygen as reduced to silicon dioxide) is 0.3-0.7; a crystalline phase is present in an intergrain region of the sintered material; and an effective firing temperature range within which a flexural strength of at least 800 MPa is obtained encompasses at least 100 degrees. Also disclosed is a glow plug having a ceramic heater comprising the silicon nitride—tungsten carbide composite sintered material.
