A resin compound for molding precision parts containing 20 to 40% by weight of at least one of polyphenylene sulfide and aromatic polyester thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer, 15 to 25% by weight of whisker and 40 to 60% by weight of spherical fine particles, wherein the total content of the whisker and the spherical fine particles is 60 to 80% by weight, and a resin compound for molding precision parts containing 20 to 40% by weight of at least one of polyphenylene sulfide and aromatic polyester thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer, 5 to 25% by weight of whisker, 40 to 75% by weight of spherical fine particles and 0.5 to 3% by weight of silane coupling agent, wherein the total content of the whisker and the spherical fine particles is 60 to 80% by weight are disclosed. Mechanical strength of the resin compounds can be increased without the impairment of dimensional precision, surface smoothness and low coefficient of thermal expansion. The resin compounds can be suitably used for molding precision parts, for instance, sleeve, ferrule and the like.

A switch comprising a switch case, contacts adapted to be opened and closed, an arc extinguishing chamber disposed in the vicinity of the contacts, and an arc extinguishing material capable of reducing the amount of metal particles and free carbons to be scattered from components disposed within the switch by an arc generated when the contacts are opened or closed or capable of insulating the metal particles and the free carbons to convert into an insulator, thereby inhibiting a decrease in arc resistance expected to occur upon the generation and extinction of the arc and a decrease in insulation resistance expected to occur within and around the arc extinguishing chamber and at inner wall surfaces of the switch case upon and after the extinction of the arc. The switch according to the present invention is applicable to a switch expected to generate an arc upon interruption of electric current flowing therethrough such as a circuit breaker, current-limiting device or electromagnetic contactor and is capable of immediately extinguishing the arc and inhibiting the decrease in insulation resistance within and around the arc extinguishing chamber and at inner wall surfaces of the switch case.

A control system for a torque converter includes a lock-up clutch provided in the torque converter for connecting input and output members of the torque converter directly, and a shift valve having first and second spools disposed in series in a sleeve for shifting an introduction of an engaging and releasing pressure acting on the lock-up clutch in accordance with positions of the first and second spools. The first spool is subjected to a first hydraulic pressure at one end thereof. The second spool is subjected to a second hydraulic pressure at one end thereof opposite to the one end of the first spool. The first and second spools are subjected to a third hydraulic pressure therebetween. The control system further has a first control device for controlling the first hydraulic pressure, and an adjusting valve for controlling the releasing pressure of the lock-up clutch. The shift valve provides the first and second spools with first, second and third positions corresponding to a converter condition, lock-up condition and slip condition, respectively. The shift valve is shifted between the second and third positions when the releasing pressure is relatively low so that the releasing pressure is continuously changed irrespective of the shifting action among the first, second and third positions of the shift valve. An abrupt change in the engaging force of the lock-up clutch is prevented.

First and second hydraulic lines are separated from the main hydraulic line, a first frictional element is connected with the first hydraulic line, and a second frictional element is connected with the second hydraulic line. An accumulator is disposed on the second hydraulic line, a shift valve is disposed on the second hydraulic line closer to the second frictional element than the accumulator, and a first drain port is formed on the manual valve for draining hydraulic fluid from the main hydraulic line when the manual valve is shifted from the reverse range to another range. A spool is disposed in the shift valve for moving to a position to shift the shift valve so that the second line is interrupted by the shift valve and divided between a second frictional element line and an accumulator line. A second drain port is formed in the shift valve for draining the hydraulic fluid in the second frictional element line when the spool moves to the position where the shift valve interrupts the second hydraulic line between the second frictional element line and the accumulator line. A shift shock can be suppressed in a shifting operation involving the reverse range.
