A column for adsorption of blood proteins is disclosed which comprises a blood inlet and a blood outlet each with a filter, and a porous material packed between both the filters, which material has a mean pore diameter (D) of 30-3,000 amgstroms with the volume occupied by pores with diameters of 0.8D-1.2D being at least 80% of the whole pore volume. The adsorption column can eliminate specific blood proteins by selective adsorption and is useful in the treatment of autoimmune diseases and cancer, for instance.

Said covering material is useful as a protective covering material for forming a film or coat on the skin and/or wound surface in the treatment of burn. The material is characterized in that film or coat formation on the skin and/or wound surface can be realized in a short time.

A human IgG.sub.1 type monoclonal antibody which possesses a molecular weight in the range of 180,000.+-.20,000 as measured by the method of polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis performed in the presence of sodium dodecyl sulfate and is specific to nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. The human IgG.sub.1 type monoclonal antibody mentioned above is produced by a method which comprises fusing human cells capable of producing an antibody against nicotinic acetylcholine receptor with propagable human cells thereby giving rise to a hybridoma capable of producing the aforementioned human IgG.sub.1 type monoclonal antibody, selecting the hybridoma from the production of the fusion, culturing the hybridoma thereby giving rise to the aforementioned human IgG.sub.1 type monoclonal antibody, and selecting the antibody from the cultured medium. The hybridoma mentioned above is also identified.

Carriers coated with a copolymer of a hydrophilic acrylate or methacrylate monomer and a copolymerizable unsaturated carboxylic acid or unsaturated amine are provided which are substantially free from nonspecific adsorption of proteins and the like. Due to the side-chain carboxyl or amino groups of the copolymer, these coated carriers are able to immobilize bio-active materials such as antigens, antibodies, complements and enzymes. These carriers, on which bio-active materials can be immobilized, are useful as clinical selective adsorbents, affinity-chromatographic adsorbents, selective electrodes or columns for analysis.
