    摘要: A fastener for fastening pipes or electrical conduit can be installed with the optional use of nails or screws. The fastener includes sharp teeth or spikes which can be hammered into an external surface, such as wood or masonry. The teeth or spikes are positioned, oriented, and otherwise configured to best suit the intended application. Installation can be accomplished using only the fastener itself and force exceeding a minimal threshold.

    摘要: The invention provides a 2-stroke internal combustion engine comprising two opposed cylinders, each cylinder housing two opposed pistons and having at least one exhaust port and at least one intake port, and a crankshaft having asymmetrically arranged journals and scotch-yoke mechanisms for driving the journals from the pistons. The pistons in each cylinder operate to open its exhaust port or ports before its intake port or ports and to close its exhaust port or ports before its intake port or ports.

    摘要: Embodiments of the present invention include a system and method for implementing a presence system. According to an embodiment of the present invention, responsive to receiving a request for presence information associated with a presentity from a watcher, the presence system receives instructions indicating that an authorization instance other than the presentity shall be given an opportunity to change or verify an authorization rule associated with the request for presence information. As a consequence, the presence system notifies the authorization instance of the request for presence information, thereby enabling the authorization instance to change or verify the authorization rule. The presence system also makes a final decision on the authorization rule on the basis of the instructions and a notification indicating a change or verification of the authorization rule.

    摘要: A surgical access system for managing the minimally invasive access of treatment electrodes to an intervertebral disc, when treating spine abnormalities such as disc herniations. The system includes an access port and a cannula assembly. The access port provides atraumatic access to the target area for the cannula system and a subsequent treatment electrode. The access port also manages the insertion travel and penetration depth of the cannula assembly, so as to minimize unintended damage to local tissue during use. The cannula system includes an adjustable and removable stop to mate with the access port that limits the extension of the cannula beyond the distal tip of the access port and into the target tissue.

    摘要: A tissue adhesive sealant includes a cross-linkable protein in a solution that when combined with a cross-linking agent solution including an aldehyde and amino acid containing species reactive with the aldehyde cross-links to form a seal. The sealant is well suited for bonding tissue alone or in combination with a patch. The ratio between the aldehyde and the amino acid containing species is between 20:1 and 1:1 on an aldehyde moiety:amino acid or peptide subunit molar basis. Particularly strong seals are formed when the protein and cross-linking agent are present in a molar ratio of between 15:1 and 1:1.
