Abstract: A passive end effector of a surgical system includes a base connected to a rotational disk, and a saw attachment connected to the rotational disk. The base is attached to an end effector coupler of a robot arm positioned by a surgical robot, and includes a base arm extending away from the end effector coupler. The rotational disk is rotatably connected to the base arm and rotates about a first location on the rotational disk relative to the base arm. The saw attachment is rotatably connected to the rotational disk and rotates about a second location on the rotational disk. The first location on the rotational disk is spaced apart from the second location on the rotational disk. The saw attachment is configured to connect to a surgical saw including a saw blade configured to oscillate for cutting. The saw attachment rotates about the rotational disk and the rotational disk rotates about the base arm to constrain cutting of the saw blade to a range of movement along arcuate paths within a cutting plane.

Abstract: A system for deploying needles in tissue includes a controller and a visual display. A treatment probe has both a needle and tines deployable from the needle which may be advanced into the tissue. The treatment probe also has adjustable stops which control the deployed positions of both the needle and the tines. The adjustable stops are coupled to the controller so that the virtual treatment and safety boundaries resulting from the treatment can be presented on the visual display prior to actual deployment of the system.

Abstract: A computing system obtains an information model specifying a first surgical plan for an orthopedic surgery to be performed on a patient. Additionally, the computing system modifies the first surgical plan during an intraoperative phase of the orthopedic surgery to generate a second surgical plan. During the intraoperative phase of the orthopedic surgery, a visualization device may present a visualization for display that is based on the second surgical plan.

Abstract: A system for providing assistance to a user of a surgical robot system, the system comprising: a surgical robot system comprising at least one surgical robot having a base, and an arm extending from the base to an attachment for an instrument, the arm comprising a plurality of joints whereby the configuration of the arm can be altered; and an assistance module comprising a list of steps of a task for which procedural assistance can be provided, the assistance module being configured to: receive, while the surgical robot system is being used to perform the task, status data indicating a status of the surgical robot system; determine, from the status data, whether the surgical robot system is in a procedural assistance state, the surgical robot system being in a procedural assistance state when the surgical robot system is being, or, is about to be, used to perform one of the steps of the task for which procedural assistance can be provided; and in response to determining that the surgical robot system is in a procedural assistance state, cause the surgical robot system to provide procedural assistance to the user in performing the step of the task while the surgical robot system is being used to perform the task.

Abstract: Described herein are systems, apparatus, and methods for precise placement and guidance of tools during surgery, particularly spinal surgery, using minimally invasive surgical techniques. Several minimally invasive approaches to spinal surgeries were conceived, percutaneous technique being one of them. This procedures looks to establish a skin opening as small as possible by accessing inner organs via needle-puncture of the skin. The percutaneous technique is used in conjunction with a robotic surgical system to further enhance advantages of manual percutaneous techniques by improving precision, usability and/or shortening surgery time by removal of redundant steps.

Abstract: A medical system for use in a lithotripsy procedure may include a processor configured to receive input from a first imaging device, wherein the first imaging device may be configured to send image data representative of an image captured in a lumen of a kidney, bladder, or ureter to the processor. The processor may be configured to display the image on a display device coupled to the processor, and analyze the image to sense the presence of an object within the image. If an object was sensed within the image, the processor may analyze the image to estimate a size of the object, and display the estimate on the display device.

Abstract: An example method includes displaying, via a visualization device and overlaid on a portion of an anatomy of a patient viewable via the visualization device, a virtual model of the portion of the anatomy obtained from a virtual surgical plan for an orthopedic joint repair surgical procedure to attach a prosthetic to the anatomy; and displaying, via the visualization device and overlaid on the portion of the anatomy, a virtual guide that guides at least one of preparation of the anatomy for attachment of the prosthetic or attachment of the prosthetic to the anatomy.
