A carrier tape, cover tape or static shielding bag for transportation of electronic components is constructed of polymers and carbon nanotubes being between 0.01% and 3% by weight. The carbon nanotubes may have any number of walls and any desired size of diameter dimension which is less than approximately 100 nm. The carrier tape, cover tape or bags including the carbon nanotubes have a static dissipative range measured between 1×105 and 1×1012 Ω/sq and a light transmittance value of between 60% and 90%. The carrier tape, cover tape or bags including the carbon nanotubes reduce surface defects, high density entanglements and agglomerations. The static shielding bags including the carbon nanotubes may be formed as sheets which are manufactured into a desired size of bag.

The embossed portion is formed to accommodate the LED which includes a light emitting portion having light-transmissive resin and arranged on its lateral surface as viewed in plan view. The embossed portion includes a protruding part that is arranged on one of the interior surfaces of the recessed embossed portion and can face the light emitting portion of the LED. Depressed parts are provided on the both sides of the protruding part so that the depressed surfaces can be spaced away from the LED when the LED is accommodated in the embossed portion. The width of the protruding part is smaller than the width of the light emitting portion of the LED as viewed in plan view.

An improved continuous adhesive backed carrier tape which eliminates the need for a lift pin to assist in removing components from the compartments in the carrier tape within which the components are adhesively retained. The improvements are achieved by utilizing a strip of continuous length containing a low tack adhesive coating within the central portion of the plastic strip located to underlie the entire bottom of each carrier tape compartment when the strip is affixed there to by either aggressive adhesive rails or by mechanical means, such as ultra sonic bonding. The unique feature is to affix low tack adhesive means underneath the compartment area of the carrier tape, sufficient to retain small, lightweight components yet an adhesion level that is low enough to enable the component to be removed using conventional vacuum pick tools without lift pin assistance.

A packaging arrangement for smoothly and conveniently providing small hardware items to an assembly line operator is described. The items are fastened onto a flexible band, lined up in the order in which they are to be installed on an article being assembled. The band is divided into equal segments defined by index marks, each segment containing the hardware items required for the assembly of one article. The items are fastened to the band off-line using securing features fashioned from the band itself in a manner and orientation by which each item can be plucked from the band with a tool that can grasp the item, pull it off the band, transport it to the article being assembled, and install it on the article without intermediate disengagement from the tool. The utilization of the band improves the productivity and reliability of manually assembled articles such as disk drives.

The scissors include a blade member and an abutment member rotatably mounted on a pivot. The blade member includes first and second blades and a grip, the blades and grip at opposite sides of the pivot. The abutment member includes an abutting portion and a grip at opposite sides of the pivot. In the cutting position the first blade is arranged to have a clearance between the first blade and the abutting portion equal to the thickness of the top tape.
