A radiation-sensitive resin composition includes a polymer including a structural unit that includes an acid-labile group; and a compound represented by formula (1). A regio-selective and consecutive Michael-Claisen process has been developed for substituted cyclohexane-1,3-dione synthesis started from unsubstituted or substituted acetone and α,β-unsaturated esters. Substituted cyclohexane-1,3-diones are the basic unit found in several natural products, bioactive alkaloids and acridine dione type heterocycles, polyphenols, and unnatural amino acid synthesis. Most of the potent herbicidal and pesticidal active molecules contain cyclohexane-1,3-dione derivatives. Such an important intermediate synthesis using a facile, atom economy and one-pot process is a demandable area in organic synthesis.

The invention discloses a process for preparing a 2,3-di-substituted cyclopentanone mixture containing an enriched cis-2,3-di-substituted cyclopentanone which comprises heating a trans-2,3-di-substituted cyclopentanone in the presence of 100 ppm or less (weight basis) of a metal carbonate based on the cyclopentanone. The invention also discloses a fragrant composition comprising 20 to 50 wt % of 2,3-di-substituted cis-methyl (dihydro) jasmonates and 80 to 50 wt % of 2,3-di-substituted (dihydro) trans-methyl (dihydro) jasmonates. The fragrant composition has jasmine flower-like fragrance.

The present invention relates to a sacubitril intermediate and a preparation method thereof. The sacubitril intermediate disclosed herein can be prepared by a deprotection reaction of a compound. In addition, the intermediate can be used as a raw material to synthesize sacubitril. A method for preparing 3-oxo-2-pentyl-1-cyclopentaneacetic acid or methyl 3-oxo-2-pentyl-1-cyclopentaneacetate, essentially in the form of the (+)-(1R)-cis isomer thereof. The method includes the steps of (a) catalytically hydrogenating a compound of the formula (I), ##STR1## wherein M is a hydrogen atom, an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal atom, or a group NR.sub.4, where R is a hydrogen or a lower alkyl radical, in a suitable solvent and in the presence of a catalyst consisting of an Ru(II) complex comprising chiral ligands that contain a 2,2'-bis(diphenylphosphino)-1,1'-dinaphthyl (BINAP) radical or a 1,2-bis(2,5-dialkylphospholano)benzyl (DuPHOS) radical, wherein the alkyl is a C.sub.2 or C.sub.3 radical, to give a compound of formula (II), ##STR2## wherein M has the meaning given above, essentially in the form of the (+)-(1R)-cis isomer thereof; (b) if required, acidifying, in a per se known manner, the compound of formula (II), wherein M is an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal atom, or a group N.sub.4, where R is hydrogen or a lower alkyl radical, to give (+)-(1R)-cis-3-oxo-2-pentyl-1-cyclopentaneacetic acid; and (c) if required, esterifying the resulting (+)-(1R)-cis-3-oxo-2-pentyl-1-cyclopentaneacetic acid under suitable conditions to form methyl (+)-(1R)-cis-3-oxo-2-pentyl-1-cyclopentaneacetate.
