    摘要: Systems and methods are provided for using field enhanced separations to produce multiple fractions from a petroleum input. A liquid thermal diffusion and/or electric field separation is used to produce the fractions. The fractions can then be used to form multiple outputs that share a first feature while being different with regard to a second feature. For example, a first fraction from the plurality of fractions can have a desired value for a first property such as viscosity index. Two or more additional fractions from the plurality of fractions can then be blended together to make a blended fraction or output. The blended fraction can have a value for the first property that is substantially similar to the value for the first fraction. However, for a second property, the first fraction and the blended fraction can have distinct values. As a result, multiple output fractions can be formed that share a first feature but differ in a second feature.

    摘要: Methods and apparatus to separate a light lube stock product and a heavy lube stock product from heavy dewaxed lube oils are described which maintain product specifications while utilizing conventional refinery equipment. The heavy dewaxed lube oil stream is first heated, such as in a spiral heat exchanger in the top of a vacuum stripper, with the heavy lube stock fraction, and/or with hot oil. Next, the heated heavy dewaxed lube oil stream is injected into the vacuum stripper, and fuel gas is injected at the bottom of the stripper as the stripping medium. A light lube stock fraction is removed from the upper portion of the stripper, and a heavy lube stock fraction is removed from the lower portion thereof. Optionally, the gas stripping medium is removed from the top of the stripper by a vacuum pump and used to fuel a hot oil exchanger to heat the oil which in turn is employed to heat the heavy dewaxed lube oil stream.

    摘要: A method for refining used motor oil using two or more hydrotreating reactors arranged in series. The used motor oil may be vacuum distilled to produce an unrefined gasoil. The unrefined gasoil may then be hydrotreated in a first hydrotreating reactor with hydrogen operated at a temperature ranging from approximately 245° C. to approximately 260° C. to produce a hydrotreated gasoil. The hydrogen may comprise a mixture of fresh hydrogen and recycled hydrogen recovered from the last of the two or more hydrotreating reactors. The hydrotreated gasoil may then be hydrotreated in one or more additional hydrotreating reactors operated at temperatures ranging from approximately 260° C. to approximately 330° C. to produce a refined gasoil. The first hydrotreating reactor may remove a substantial portion of metallic impurities from the unrefined impurities, while the one or more additional hydrotreating reactors remove a substantial portion of heteroatom impurities from the unrefined gasoil.
